Title: Windows/iMac(Non-USB 3.0) RAW Workflow ideas
Post by: covercity on June 24, 2014, 04:05:14 AM
I would like to shoot Raw on Canon 5DMark2 using ML and Komputerbay 64GB card, and Transcend USB 3.0 card reader, but I edit and CC on an i7 iMac (Adobe CS5 and FCP7), that does not have USB 3.0.

If I buy an inexpensive Windows based laptop w/USB 3.0 to dump footage to, do you folks forsee any problems if all I'm using it for is to ingest and transcode then dump to firewire drive and bring over to iMac? Could I just ingest in Windows laptop, then transcode in OSX?

Are there any other ways I can work with Raw without buying a new iMac?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Does this iMac have a thunderbolt port?

One of these might be cheaper and more useful that buying another machine.
