Title: 7D raw = Weird aliasing!
Post by: joeydingding on June 08, 2014, 04:32:23 PM
Hello I got some really weird aliasing on my canon 7D MLV RAW..

Is this normal? Does the MLV makes the aliasing worse?

7D (like most dslrs) gets aliasing in video mode.
Two options to avoid it:
1 VAF-7D (greatly reduces aliasing)
2 use ml crop mode (eliminates aliasing, but changes FOV)

Hello Frank,

So this is normal? Not a sensor issue..

Just google Canon 7d aliasing and you'll see plenty of examples you can compare to what you're getting.

In short, yes, this is normal.

Use the zoomed in mode (hit zoom) to record in crop mode for aliasing-free video.
