Title: Magic Latern's live view has different exposure to actual footage or photo?
Post by: squidman90 on May 03, 2014, 04:00:29 AM
hey there
i have a canon 7d with a rokinon 24mm cine lens, now with this cine lens you change the aperture via the ring on the lens. and you can't control the f-stop from within magic lateen (i think).
anyway i will have my photo ready on the live view properly exposed, then i take a picture and its overexposed. what am i doing wrong here, is it the lens? because you can't control the aperture from the software or is there a live view setting I've got wrong? thanks matt

In M-mode? When using manual lenses, the Av-mode should give you the most accurate preview.

This is a well-known Canon bug (dark liveview with manual lenses).

ML fixes it if you enable exposure override (and, of course, if you read the user guide or the help text from the menu).
