Title: Lexar x1066
Post by: advuh on April 29, 2014, 05:00:26 PM
Hello people! I'm looking for high-speed cards for shooting RAW and I'm between a 32GB Transcend x1000 and the new 32GB Lexar x1066 (being this cheaper in B&H than the older x1000 in Amazon) but I'm not sure if the Lexar x1066 is compatible with ML, does anyone know about this? should I go safe and buy the Transcend?

What camera are you planning on using it with?

Also, FYI, 32Gb will yield less than 10 minutes of video.

Canon 7D, thanks, I already knew about the recording time (that's a bummer), so I'm buying 2 cards

I wouldn't go "safe" with the transcend. IMO the Transcend-cards are alot more variable in performance than any of my sandisk-cards (I also have a 400x Transcend that is slower than my sandisk 60MB/s) . I returned my 1000x Transcend in favor for a Sandisk because of the performance issue. It might have been something wrong with it but it was very volatile in the write-speed. The Sandisk gives me steady speed all the time. Also check out the VPG65 that the Sandisk and Lexar 1066x has: guarantee of a least 65MB/s writespeed! (VPG : video performance guarantee)

check my benchmark (sandisk 1066x vs transcend 1000x)

Yeah I know the Lexar is better, but what I need to know before buying is if there could be any compatibility issue with ML that I'm not aware of, since this is a recently released card with more speed than the x1000 that most of you guys use I don't want having a simple problem like compatibility lefting me withouth RAW, what do you think? should I buy the x1066?

I own the 128GB 1066x Lexar and it works great with ML. It's the only 128GB card I've found so far that can reliably handle extended RAW recording.

Guys, pretty please, post your ML benches. 32-64-128 cards are most welcomed.

24fps movie and 30fps movie modes, preferably with Global Draw ON, 1.2.3 FW and, if by any chance, with SD spanning.

CrystalDiskMark and playback mode would be great too (W8 USB3 U7 readers).

Some of 1066x are sold at a discounted price right now, so it would super nice of you.

Thanks!

Any new owners of 1066x cards from Lexar and 5D3? Unfortunately only a few benchmarks are available and it would be nice to know their real-world speed.

Please don't link outdated installation procedures and don't follow them if you don't know why and what you are doing!
We have lots of outdated tutorials and they really add up to all the mess we already have.
Stay with confirmed information found on the forums found here. Most installation threads have a start post which is maintained by some people actually knowing their stuff.
