Title: Is the Dual ISO image function safe?
Post by: dcw1979 on April 09, 2014, 09:32:00 AM
The last time I checked in to the forum I was reading that it may damage (possibly fry) the camera. But this was when this option first became available.  Now that it has been developed further, is the Dual ISO image funtion now deemed as safe to use?

I have been using Dual_ISO for a while and have never had any issues.

i use it with the alternating option, so that only every 2nd image is dual-iso.
just to make sure :)

It rocks hard, and is safe to use.

I even used it on last event I covered, with absurd settings of 100/3200 at f/1.4, developed with --soft-film=4 and I'm more than pleased with effects. Check it out! (http://szmigieldesign.pl/tribal-vanguard-fotografia-eventowa/)

I took about 1100 frames, all with dual ISO. Processed them with Barracuda GUI (took whole night to process on Q6600 :P). Zero problem whatsoever.

Magic Lantern together with dual ISO module are the real 2.0 7D firmware update, not the Canon one ;)

@szDE
If you are an adobe guy the new LR plugin works really well.
