Title: [WONTFIX] Control flash with the ML (High Speed Sync)
Post by: Greg on June 30, 2012, 02:17:12 AM
Is it possible to control flash with the ML?
I mean HSS for manual flash and sound flash trigger.

The HSS can be done in the following way:
shutter button (start flash function) - > shutter lag (delay) -> start flash

High Speed Sync is a function of the flash, not the camera. In HSS mode, the flash strobes at a high rate with a reduced output at each burst as opposed to the flash releasing the full burst in one go. This strobing increases the chance that the open shutter will catch more of the exposure as opposed to the flash going off while part of the shutter curtain is covering the sensor, thus resulting in the darkened bar for part of the frame.

The sound trigger should already work depending on what you have in mind. Put the manual flash on the camera or attach with whatever sync device and turn on audio trigger for shutter release. When the shutter is triggered, the flash will be as well. I've tried this a couple of times with success.

Triggers pixel king have the HSS  function, it can be added to the camera.
Time of full power flash is 1/200-1/800s so it might work with most of flash.

"6. Support all the shutter speed, sync speed up to 1/8000s;using the PC socket control the studio ight which also support 1/8000s sync speed."

It has support for it but with flash capable of it:
"Support well known brand flashes for High speed sync and TTL. (Metz, Sigma, Sunpak, Nissin)"

If you use the PC socket it will work with most flash lamps. It flashes a few ms earlier than normally.

To take this picture the pixel king and manual studio flash quantum, see the exif -  1/8000s

it seems many misled. :)

This is not the "FP-high speed sync"!
It's like "HyperSync" from PocketWizard.
Sometimes this feature would be useful.

Personally I'd like to get a "2nd curtain sync" on the hot shoe.
Is this possible?

sorry for my english.

Isn't already possible with Cf.N.?

Please read carefully the user manual for your camera :)
The central contact (hot shoe) is always on "first curtain sync.".
It can not be changed in custom settings.
"FP High-Speed Sync" and "2nd curtain sync" is available for E-TTL-flash and TTL-triggers.
If you select the signals to run these functions and apply them to the hot shoe, "HyperSync" and "2nd curtain sync" will be available (with any triggers) on most on-camera flashes/studio strobe.

sorry for my english.

Thank's I used 2nd curtain sync but with my E-TTL-flash or built-in one, so that's why for me it was already there.

In this way we obtain a delay of the shutter and nothing more.
The camera will shoot in the X-Sync
Get HyperSync possible by introducing a delay between pressing the shutter and the start of the flash.
The delay must be controlled because the shutter lag at all the cameras are different.

sorry for my english. :)
