You didn't say what model camera. Some cameras (7D for instance) format as Fat32 only.
Fat32 only allows max 4GB files. If you shoot a longer clip than that, it will start a new file (.R00, .R01 etc.). The various converters you can find here (look under Raw Video and Raw Video Postprocessing) will all handle the multi-file raw clips with no problem. Personally I am using Mystic at the moment because it's fast and all I need are DNG files.

Its a 5D MK3 , with a Komputerbay  64 gig cf card , ive solved the problem now , i went back to the EOS card site and discovered I had to press ALT-F to get the extra format options , ran some tests and I can now record over 4gb clips.

Cheers

Unless I am missing an option, there is no way to format cards in camera to exfat.  It has to be done with a computer.

For 64GB cards it's the other way. You can't format them as FAT32 in the camera.

Hello Alex,

Forgive me if I am missing a setting as I am new to ML (thank you very much for this great tool!) But I am testing out my new Lexar 64GB 1066x card and if I format in-camera it is FAT32.

Is there a setting to change the formatting to EXFAT?

I am using a 5DMKIII with the 1.2.3 firmware and "Bleeding Edge" ML

Thanks

Interesting, I have a Kingston 64GB SD that I can't format to FAT32 in the camera.

I can format it as FAT32 on the PC, but when I format it from the camera, it goes back to EXFAT.

Thanks for your reply.  I would like it to format EXFAT in-camera.  I tried formatting in EXFAT on the computer, then putting the card in the camera, shooting a bit then formatting in the camera.  It went back to FAT32.

Maybe it is different between SD cards and CF cards?  I am formatting a CF card.

I have a similar question....

Can a 128GB CF card be formated to exFat for the 7D in order to have continuous recording until the card fills up? I've read that exFat wont work on cards over 32GB... is that still true, or is there a workaround?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgQ2MOkAZTFHdFFIcFp1d0R5TzVPTVJXOEVyUndteGc#gid=5

MLV provides continuous recording for all cards, whether they are exFAT, or FAT32.

For your last question, read this thread.

Interesting, I have a Kingston 64GB SD that I can't format to FAT32 in the camera.

I can format it as FAT32 on the PC, but when I format it from the camera, it goes back to EXFAT.

This is odd, that some cameras are formatting to ExFAT in-camera, and some formatting to FAT32. There's got to a be a setting somewhere. Maybe it's only in firmware 1.23? My 5d3 is still in 1.13, and I can only format my 64GB cards to FAT32...

EDIT: I came across this over at DPreview (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3244639?page=2):

QuoteThe 5D3 will automatically use exFAT when internally formatting CF cards 128GB and larger.
