Title: Editing Footage in Sony Vegas
Post by: thisisentourage on March 13, 2014, 01:30:10 AM
I  Recorded a Video using a Canon 50D
I'm trying to edit it in Sony Vegas and when I'm playing back the clips, they're skipping.

Any explanation of why this is occurring?

If possible, how do I resolve the matter?

Thank you ML Community, Cheers!

Are you saying that in Sony Vegas I should find a RAW footage option/capability?

The video is shot already.
I played the clips on the CF Card off a card reader and they were smooth.

Now they're jumping frames.

what did you encode them too? pro-res from mlrawviewer worked fine in vegas.

Hey 1%,

How do I do that?
In Vegas itself off the hard drive?
Or off the cf card reader?

Sorry, this is my 1st project with ML as well as Vegas.

Thank you so much for the response.

Long time since I used Vegas. It has an extremely streamlined workflow, but for heavy files and projects, its engine is too weak (in my experience).

I suggest you try some other software.

I don't know if Vegas supports DNG sequences. But if possible in Vegas, then you will need to render the DNG sequence to Prores or DNxHD (both formats are very suitible for colour grading etc.) But they also seem to me as heavy formats for Vegas.

If you want a very quick and easy workflow, then render to mp4 at the loss of quality.

My last Vegas version I used was Vegas 10, many things might have changed since then. Maybe someone else here knows.
