Title: [DONE] Adjust ML aperture/shutter strings to Canon
Post by: Marsu42 on February 23, 2014, 09:46:59 PM
Inspired by the discussion here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=8688.msg103515#msg103515

I'd like to suggest two functions (via lookup tables if needed) that cast Canon's 8-step internal shutter/aperture values to the very same human readable "f/xyz" and "1/abcd s" that Canon uses for the given exposure level increments, no matter how accurate they are. Imho the discrepancy between ML menu and Canon menu/lcd/vf doesn't help usability, I stumble upon this all the time.

Almost done.

Canon menu -> ML menu
1/800  ->  1/750
1/1600 -> 1/1500
1/3200 -> 1/3000

Hey, just one last quick question: are you simply linking Canon's functions ? Because that'll be great if we could choose below 30", one second at a time. So is that still possible and not too long to code ? Or I should just use the bulb timer ?
Thanks.

That's impossible outside of using the bulb timer, Canon's shutter property can only be set in increments of 1/3 or 1/2 stop.

Accuracy trumps (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14554.0).
