1080p30 continious should be ok with this one.

Max cont. preformance with global draw on:
MLV 1920x1080 25fps + sound     - continuous
MLV 1920x1152 25fps + sound     - continuous
MLV 1920xhalf 40fps                     - continuous
MVL 1920x960 29.97fps + sound  - on the edge sometimes continuous

In camera write performance seems to be around 92,2mb/sek

Is 1920 x 1080 30p possible with no sound?

The Benchmarks, are much faster than the 1066x Lexar I got yesterday. I was trying to upload the image with imgur.com but I can't get it to work, it just gives me the ? thumbnail.
Thanks for the help on posting the image Markus!

Markus,

In raw_rec i get speeds up to 98. Are u using the hacks and card warmup?

No kidding, 64 Gb of slower = nearly 300 bucks. I picked up 2 Lexar 1000x 128Gb cards used for $400 and they have done well but I'd love to have some higher frame rates and the 256Gb size is also a no brainer. I wonder if we will ever get full HD 30P..... I guess for now dropping the res slightly won't hurt. Thanks again for posting you results!

What camera are you using markus?

have you had any issues if you record the full 256gb?

Small hacks on but with global draw on and zacuto evf connected via hdmi. 98 sounds nice! Humm, I think all my settings are in order...

Not the HDMI Cable... some other bug stops recording after around 164GB... Magic lantern bug/Canon bug/Komputerbay bug ??
Reboot required after error =/

I could fill up the remaining space on the card after camera reboot though...

Just to confirm, the HDMI cable was not inserted when you ran the tests?

I absolutely have to have the cable connected as I use the camera on a shoulder rig with a Zacuto EVF.... hmmm Darn, I was really hoping we would get 30p with the numbers on the the benchmarks, 24p is certainly not to be sniffed at tho.....I like the 256Gb size though if we can sort out the bug of stopped recording Ill get one. Bye bye lexar 1066x its been short and not as sweet as hoped.

All test results on cont. recording was made with zacuto evf. Disconnected it to rule out cause of rec stop at 164GB. Still don't know where that bug comes from. Maybe i should try again with the new ported ml version for latest mk III firmware 1.2.3...
Does anyone know where you could get hold of that one? Or is it to early/buggy to bother?

In camera format works on this card with canon firmware 1.2.3 testing to see if 160GB bug still remains after in camera format...

Found this in the ML FAQ!
To record continuously for more than 30 minutes, you need to use an HDMI recorder. Enable the Clear Overlays feature to hide the focus box and the 16:9 bars, and make the half-shutter button sticky to prevent the camera from turning off LiveView after 30 minutes.

By pressing the half-shutter button I was able to bypass the live view auto shut off and fill up the whole card =D
Haven't really figured out if its possible so automate this "keep-alive" workaround.

Can you post a benchmark of the camera in MLV REC with MLV SND, in video mode with Global Draw on and then off? 24p and 30p? :-) That would be really good for the community.

The results from playback are pretty much meaningless.  I'd be interested in those results.  But 1050 KB 128gb isn't fast enough for MLV with Sound but my 64gb 1000x KB card is perfect.

I can do that but as reported earlier in this thread 25p 1920x1152 mlv+sound cont. 30p however I was only able to record 1920x960 + mlv sound kinda cont. didn't seem so be completely stable. probably should have gone lower...

Second that, I just found out today that the 128Gb Lexar 1000x  won't do mlv + mlv_snd.

Ok so from what i see it looks liek the 256 is about the same speed as the 128gb 1050x card. Which isn't quite fast enough to reliably record continuously.  my 128 1050x KB card tests at about 92mb/sec and the 64gb 1000x I have tests at about 96-98... which doesnt seem like much but is just enough to make it easy.

If you are only planning on doing short clips in raw with out audio you could probably have a consistent non frame skip experience.  But I like to record with sound... and the 128gb card makes the buffer have to work way too hard (hovers between 1-3) where the 64gb card hovers at about 0.1 buffer.

I own two 1050x KB Cards, none is stable for full hd 25p raw with sound. The 1200x is stable and can also do 19201152+sound stable so there is a big difference. The 1200x speeds in camera benchmarks may not look that much better but that is because the camera cpu:s capacity to write to CF is limited. However the extra speed capacity gives you just that stability that the 1050x cards usually place themselves just on the wrong side of. The 1200x is totally stable an fills up a whole card without frame drops FullHD 25fps + sound without any problems (as long as you use workaround for canons auto live view shut down after 29:59 "idle").

Now that these 1200x 256GB KB cards have been around for a few months, how are they working for everyone? Any hiccups? Also, is it possible to reformat to ExFAT in-camera and have access to all 256GB, or does it still only give us 128GB?

I now own one 1200x and one 1066x 256gb KB card. I have used them them extensively since I bought them.  No problems as of yet. If they are formatted in exfat you can format in camera and it will preserve Xfat and size.

Thanks. That is great news. It really makes raw shooting more manageable (but I don't need to tell you that).

I saw your benchmarks for the 1066x and 1200x 256GB cards in another thread and was surprised to see that they performed about the same. Have you noticed any other differences?

Seems to be almost identical performance vice. But I have mostly used them for full hd mlv 25p + sound.

So do you press the shutter button while recording RAW to fill up to 256GB without the stopbug?
