Title: Serious field dominance issues with Canon 550D 25fps PAL footage
Post by: ItsaTarp on February 06, 2014, 11:09:04 PM
Hi,

I've been looking forever to solve this. I've shot a project in 25 fps PAL format and converted it to Cineform. However, when I load them into the timeline in FCP7 the field dominance is set to "upper". Now I want to use text as well, so the field dominance has to be "none". But this screws up my 550D footage. Why is that? Is 25 fps PAL somehow interlaced? My previous project shot in 23.98 didn't have this problem. Anyone know how to fix this propely (without de-interlacing plugins)?

Cheers,

Print your settings on Cineform, please. The camera not produce interlaced, so, it is a software configuration and not your hardware.
Maybe your sequence on fcp is in interlaced? Try to change it, if is. Maybe your config. on cineform produce this...

Please share your solution with the rest of us, so others with the same problem can find a solution without having to ask (again).

Solved. I found that Final Cut isn't keen on 3rd party codecs like Cineform, had to transcode to ProRes in order for it to work.
