The teleskop was a 10´´ RC with 2000mm focal distance + 1.4x TK. It was the firstlight for my teleskop. :)

Yes, 2800mm effective focus distance (forget the 1.6 for the cropfactor of the 600D). Tracking manually with the help of the viewfinder and a broomstick, taped on the teleskop 8)

How did you even remotely manage to frame this shot? Very impressive. How many frame did you have to take?
This is actually really impressive. Blows my mind that a camera could take such a shot. And probably in a years time a similar shot could be taken with improved quality, possibly also capturing the people on board.

Wie hast du es auch nur Ansatzweise geschafft, die Kamera auszurichten? Da ist verdammt viel 'nichts' da oben, und dann bewegt sie sich auch noch. Sehr imposant.

ML-raw-video
resolution: 2048 x 1072 (600D 5x-crop)
frames: 686
fps: 5
iso: 1600
shutter: 1/2000s
aperture: f11 (10´´/2800mm)
frames containing nothing than space: 670
frames containing the ISS: 17
frames good enough for postprocessing: 5
For to know, at what time the ISS can be seen, I´m looking here: www.astronomie.info/calsky/Satellites/index.html/4?interval=7
And for to get a bit orientation of the fligh curve, I´m looking in stellarium (www. stellarium.org)
The clamps of the teleskop mount are loosen to be able to track the satellit manualy. And the broomstick helps to do this tracking more sensitive. The viewfinder must be aligned very accurate to the teleskop.
When I see the satellit appearing on the horizont, I must hurry up: Pointing to the satellit and trying to track it, using the viewfinder. When the ISS is quite high in the sky, I start the record. Two minutes later, the game is over. The bigger the resolution, the better the chance for catching the satellit. So, the 600D is not so bad for doing this :)

Don´t think me crazy, but I tried that.
Some month ago, an astronaut walked out of the station to repair some stuff. I recorded the ISS, but the seeing was very bad and I didn´t notice anything than a jumping ISS.
I must calculate, whether such a thing is possible with my equipement. I´m not sure, but I guess: no. But I am sure, that the astronauts can see me. And I am sure, they wave to me out of their window, every time they see me and my teleskope :)

Mit ein Canon Einsteiger-camera...? Erstaunlich. Faszinierend. Die Jungs (und Mädels) die ML entwickeln haben, können sehr stolz sein. Und wir anderen sind stolz, dass einer von uns mit rudimentäre Werkzeugen so ein Bild hervorstellen kan.
