Title: 6D RAW/MLV video questions anout FPS override
Post by: ph2007 on August 31, 2015, 04:02:34 AM
hi guys,

I am soon starting my wedding filming soon, so I am prepare all the gears/skills that i needed right now.

I shoot @25 1080p 2.39

Do i need to use FPS override function if i shoot Raw/Mlv?
Whats is the benefits by using it?
(by reading the sticky "How to record: -- 30/24/25 fps RAW VIDEO ON 5D3 & others --" thread it says best to set Canon setting to 1080 30p then adjust FPS override to 25p? even shooting @25p?)
I am very confuse at this, hope someone can lights me up :(

thanks.

You are sure about 1080p in MLV on 6D? SD-card interface is limited to about 41 MByte/s which is good for 720p24 (give or take) continuous recording. 1080p will give you very short takes ...

Yes I know 6d wont do 1080p raw.
I meant thats my final delivery format.

Only thing borhers me right now is the fps override things.

Crop mode MLV recording -> Default (by design) is 30 (=29.975) fps.
If you want/need other frame rates in crop mode you have to use fps override.

Most of these info in "sticky" is outdated, at least for 6d. You don't need set anything special in canon menu anymore to get max with MLV.
Just as Walter said, if you will shoot crop mode it will force your camera go 30p, if you don't need it you will need to use FPS Override.
