I suppose "W di" means Windows and you don't have to use Windows only. The problem is with directories/folders created by macOS if file system is ExFAT.

SDXC cards formated in cam will get ExFAT.

If you are using macOS you have to follow this procedure:
- Format card in PC but apply FAT32 file system.
- Then copy ML files to card.
- Run firmware update to install ML. This will make card bootable and this is a requirement to run ML.
- After installation format card in cam with default option "Keep ML".
-> Cam will format card with ExFAT option and directories/folders are recreated with correct properties.

Again: The problem are directories/folder created by macOS with card having ExFAT.

Quote from: anto on October 06, 2024, 08:57:04 PMthe first time I've test the card I reached 90 MB/s in recording with the camera green and orange. Now max recording its 82 Mb. In bech the results was the same 102 writing and 86 reading.

It would help to tell the card you are using.
82 MByte/s is a proper write rate for SanDisk Extreme Pro and Samsung EVO Plus.
90 MByte/s continuous data rate may be possible with some Lexar.

But format card in cam first and retry.

Hi everyone

Been testing my 15-45mm and 22mm lens against each other, i used the 15-45 first in 4.2k (16:9), after in 4.8k(2:35:1) and then 2.8k (1:1 - 2:35:1), everything went fine, i turned off the camera, swapped the 15-45 for the 22mm lens and tried to redo the test starting  by the last one i tried (2.8K) but as soon as i tried the 4.8 and 4.2k modes the bitrate doesnt go above 40, the icon next to it is red and it stops after a few frames, i checked all the settings and they are correct, first i thought the 2.8k settings were being preserved in some way when testing the other modes, turned the camera off/on but same thing happened.

am i doing something wrong?

Walter Schulz

Remove battery, insert battery. Retry.

Turning cam off/on is *not* sufficient to restart a cam in a clean way after malfunction.

ricardopt

Hi Walter, thanks for your advice, i did try other batteries but that didnt work but i ended up finding out what was wrong...when i changed to the 22mm lens i replaced the battery and for some reason the sd overclock option was not active not allowing higher bitrates.

Thanks for your help

Hi there,

i installed crop mood 2023aug19eosm202 and i have following problems. I had ML installed before without problems.

Under Debug -> Memory patches is a red dot -> 5 ROM and a yellow text -> Cache is locked down (not exactly clean)
If i go to Movie -> orange text -> This feature only works in movie mode -> All the text is grey except FPS override.
Crop modd and RAW video are green but not bright lighted and i can't change the resolution

I can not use -> Customize button in movie mode -> if i tap any button -> busy text appears on screnn nothing happens
I can record videos

I tried to reinstall, format the sd card with canon software and formated it with completely, reseted bootflag but nothing changes. My SD Card SanDisk Extreme Pro 170 MB/s 512 GB. Thx for the help

thx for the fast reply, that fixed my problem. Memory Patches is still red and cache is locked down, but all the other things are working. :D

Memory patch icons are confusing because red means success.
And cache ... works as designed. It is more info about a not-so-clean hack running as it should (or shouldn't with "clean" programming in mind).

hello. great stuff. I'm having an issue with a 650d. I'm on the magiclantern-crop_mood.2023Aug19.650D104 build and I cant seem to find any presets for 3x3 crop exept hfr. I have a shoot with this camera and a 5d mIII. and want to record close to 16/9 full hd 14 bit video on both. sorry I couldn't find this issue on the search bar, I, dont know If i'm doing something wrong. 1x1 works like a charm

Walter Schulz

You have to change Aspect Ratio to activate a different preset.

Im looking to do anamorphic for long single shots with a 700D. Would 1 hour to 1 and a half be feasible? Doing some testing the best i can get is about 6-7 minutes, then it wont record for more than a second after that. If the write speeds seem in line, what else would be preventing me from just recording till the card is full?

Cam's card interface limit is 80+ MByte/s with a compatible and fast card.

80 MByte/s x 5400 s = 432 000 MByte

Should be doable with a 512 GB card.

For long time recordings you should not try to run on the edge. If stability is a must you have to reduce write rate.

Hi, I have been using the eos m for crop mood previously (love it, and magic lantern for 5d mk3, my sincere thank you for that), and acquired a 700d a few days ago. There are a few things I am curious about, sorry if it has already been mentioned. The readout on the 700d is faster than the eos m on 1x3 medium and high setting, but it is the same in highest, while the readout on the fhd 3x3 is faster on the eos m (16,5 mikrosec/line) than on the 700d (20 mikrosec/line), which surprised me a bit. Do they do 3x3 differently in some way? I can not, like the above user, set 3x3 1080p in the crop mood setting on the 700d. The aspect ratio for this, 3:2, is present in the eos m build, but not in the 700d. I have to turn off crop mood to get the 3x3 fhd on the 700d. Am I missing something, or is it just not included? I am on the "700d115_shutter"-build, but have tried the other one as well.

Walter Schulz

1736x1160 is just Canon's "native resolution" for full screen liveview (= aspect ratio 3:2) and only standard frame rates are supported by Bilal's build.

Your observation about Crop Mood = OFF is correct.

Found the right settings for continuous (4.4k 10bit). Just wanted to make sure it was write speeds and capacity that were the only roadblocks. I appreciate the assist

Hi there,

I'm having some similar difficulties to @essbe. I'm trying to closely replicate the setting I have on my EOS M which is using the 3x3 1080p mode, 24 fps at just under 1080p and a native 1.6x crop.

As the 3x3 1080p preset is not present on the 700D I tried turning crop mood off and adjusting the resolution on the MLV raw module, however, when I adjust the resolution it also adjusts the crop.

Is it possible to shoot near 1080p at 1.6 crop on the 700D?

Many thanks!

Eli

That's possible in all recent builds for years. Just enable RAW and you are in 3x3 mode with full frame enabled.

Hi,

When in video mode on the EOS M with crop mood, sometimes I like to take a picture, but the image has the height cropped when opened in Lightroom or Photoshop.
The actual size is 5208x3476 but in the Adobe software it's cropped to 5184x2916. Is it a bug in Adobe or in ML?

Example:
https://mega.nz/file/ggtTVCxL#pj2x45XmHENhBZbLnkmrNyuNwJId25IMpxcw6qOciPI

Thanks!

Edit:

I just saw wrong aspect ration data:
AspectRatio: 16:9
CroppedImageWidth: 5184
CroppedImageHeight: 2916

Which also doesn't match the video because I was recording in 1:2.35 u_u

Is there an easy way to avoid this?

Walter Schulz

Not sure.

Adobe applies 16:9 for some reason. You can enter crop tool in LR and remove cropping.

EDIT: And here we go:
EXIF tells
Aspect Ratio 16:9
CroppedImageWidth 5184
CroppedImageHeight 2916
CroppedImageTop 270

This is inside Maker section.

Overlapping happens. ;-)

There are several sources how to handle PS's aspect ratio issue.

iaburn

Hahah yes, we found it at the same time  :D

Thanks for the tip about the cropping tool within Adobe, I didn't thought about that, but it's a good enough solution for what I need!

I have an issue wile recording mlv in all settings 700d camera and in lowest setting when I stop from green recording for like 10 seconds or whenever the camera hangs :( I have Kingston canvas 512gb select plus and with testing card performance around 90 mb write/s with 240 MHz and sr-50 mode what could be wrong?

Walter Schulz

engis

its raw mlv on 640x360 4.37 16:9 10bpp tried with another card also but still hang after stop recording. works fine in Canon mode to record at highest resolution

Walter Schulz

Please show snapshot of your movie screen/tab. Also Modules tab/screen.
If possible zip contents of ML\SETTINGS dir/folder, upload it somewhere and link it here.

You have applied settings as shown in Bilal's Walkthrough video linked in first post of this thread?

Dreammaker

Frozen ML shutter speed fixed on x6i (t4i 650d) by
1) selecting shutter speed in the ML menu,
2) moving the main dial
3) selecting the recent menu
4) rebooting, pressing the bin button as soon as possible to enter into the Recent menu with shutter speed selected.
Step 3 can occasionally be skipped.
This processes only has to be done once, and the shutter speed remains functional.*

I'm very happy! :D

I had noticed on rare occasion that the shutter speed would function correctly. I have been trying to replicate these conditions.

Prior to this, the correct shutter speed would briefly appear on the main screen before being overridden, and then get stuck at a different value in ML. The only way to see the approximate shutter speed or adjust it was via the Canon menu.

*Enabling Dual ISO in the EXPO tab results in ISOless LV err(1) and ISOless LV err(2), also reverting the functioning shutter speed.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this wonderful project!
