Installation:
1) Format the card from the camera.
2) Make sure you are running Canon firmware 1.0.4.
3) Copy ML files on the card and run Firmware Update.

Uninstallation:
1) Run Firmware Update from your ML card.
2) Follow the instructions.

UPGRADE TO 1.0.4

Status:  Alpha

What's currently not working: All ML features that have to do with audio plus a couple that require more button than what we have

Known "quirks":
- MZ is flickering. No solution known beside basically hardlocking the UI.
- FPS override may cause crashes. This requires a lot of testing to figure out correct timer values. I'm on it

(obsolete info) How do I test it?

1. Download the needed files

- The installer package:
http://nanomad.magiclantern.fm/650D/magiclantern-v2.3.NEXT.2013Aug03.650D104.zip

- EOSCard for Windows http://pel.hu/eoscard/ or MacBoot for OS X http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/macboot/macboot.html

2. low level format your SD card

3. Run EOSCard, uncheck EOS_Develop and BOOTDISK (the card SHOULD NOT be bootable)

4. Upgrade to canon 1.0.4 if you haven't already using the official firmware update

5. low level format your SD card again

6. Start camera in M photo mode and reset settings to default.

7. Extract the contents of the installation zip on SD card.

8. Start camera in M photo mode and run firmware update. THis will run the ML setup and make your card bootable too.

9. Follow the on-screen instructions

Afterwards you can delete the 650D.104.installer.fir file and stay up to date just by replacing files from the official nightly builds. (check the forum homepage)

Everything works here!

The process only works on my 16GB and 32GB cards. For my 64GB card I had to do different.

Thanks!

Yes, the installer (or any canon update for that matter) won't work on cards bigger than 32 GB

This build has everything enabled.

Nice!, I was still on 1.0.1 so didn't need to update but thought I'd test it anyway.

Upgrade went fine following the simple steps above, and then for my second card I just formatted and copied over all the file apart from the .fir file

this has the raw viewer module too which I didn't have before, so got a nice surprise!

great work guys and thanks again!

Installed & Working. Thank you for all your hard work nanomad & Satriani!

Sorry about being so impatient to try it out, guess I couldn't wait to get my hands on ML :D

Dears, Thanks Again .. Really Appreciate your great work,

mojo

Thank u for porting to 1.0.4.
Did a full day shoot on 27 July nightly build and am pleased to report no issues, where primary features were used... peaking, zebra, audio (no meters of course), 5x zoom were good. However fps was at 1.0x and magic zoom not used.
One thing I did miss was the shortcut button to change WB. Using the ML menu to change WB was OK except that I can't change it while recording.
Once again, very appreciative of your time &  efforts.
Cheers

Hi,
Does it mean we are close to the βeta now ?
Thanks.

 ;D Thank's for this great job !!!

Just two questions :

When I use Motion Detect, how can I stop it ? I try several buttons but It always running, I'm obliged to turn off my camera !?

Can I Stop ML and return to Canon Software ? For the moment I turn the camera OFF and ON to return on Canon Menu.

Thank's for your answer because I'm very Neeby ;)

nanomad

ML does not replace Canon's software, you can use all the functions canon provides (and you are supposed to!). If you want to completely unistall ML the best solution is to re-run the installer and read carefully the on-screen instructions

Thank's but it wasn't my question, I just want to stop ML after use it and return to standard function, for the moment the only way I fund is to turn OFF and ON my Canon 650D, I don't want to uninstall it :)

For Motion Detect, I found this : After take a picture when the screen return to Motion Detect, just press trash button.

Walter Schulz

If you turn your camera on and off ML will be loaded. If this worked for you until now there is no use changing the method.
If however you turned the camera off and turned it on again with SET pressed ML was indeed deactivated.

In simplified computer terms: ML is a task/program loaded at startup and waiting for action. If SET is pressed it will not be loaded and therefore not waiting for action.

To access the ML interface you have to press the trash button and you can use the same button to go back to Canon's own interface.

Ciao, Walter

You no longer need the fir on there, that's just the firmware (.fir) updater and deleting it is probably so you don't accidentally do it again later.

Many thanks nanomad for all your dvelopment work and to satriani for your daily builds, appreciate your efforts!

nanomad

The fir is only needed once *per lifetime of your camera*
