Nightly builds with Raw recording support
« on: June 11, 2013, 03:46:28 AM »
NIGHTLY BUILDS for all supported models are now available at
Nightly Builds - try the very latest stuff here
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=3072.0

If you use Nightly Builds please delete all old files and replace with the new including ML directory.

Some cameras are being developed separately from the main Unified build.  Some of those builds will have certain features available which may not be available through the nightly build.  You can explore the individual RAW development threads for additional builds; of course AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Thanks to all those who provided builds.

Quote
In an effort to keep threads clean and on-topic, this thread will be used to maintain the latest builds by members, that include the latest Raw recording support and other changes submitted to the source code.

Please DO NOT post in this thread unless you are maintaining compiled builds.  Users who post in this thread without submitting a build will have the post removed, and may face a warning.

General discussion about these builds should be posted in this thread.
Or feel free to post about specific camera builds in their relevant threads. Links below.

Any users who maintain builds for specific cameras are welcome to post in this thread and keep their posts updated on a regular basis.  This OP will be updated to acknolowdge your welcome effort in providing users with the freshest code to play with.

What are these nightly builds?
-These builds are binaries compiled by members from the latest source code.  They include Raw recording support.

Who should use nightly builds?
- Anyone who likes to live on the bleeding edge, wants to help ML development and doesn't care about some features being broken.

Why should I use a nightly build?
- To try the latest features (e.g. you have requested a feature and it was implemented).
- To check if a bug was fixed.
- To help us with testing (please report any bugs you find).

What are the disadvantages of nightly builds?
- You are running untested code. The source code is updated daily, and development sometimes progresses very quickly. We can't test every little change on all cameras, so a few things may not work as expected.
- No documentation - the only help for new features is a small line of text, and ML source code.
- No guarantees - if it breaks, you get to keep both pieces. Well, the same is true for stable releases - but at least, the chances of things going wrong should be much lower.

What's new?
- See the ChangeLog.
- Browse the changeset log on Bitbucket.
- Look for feature requests marked as "DONE". You might find some cool stuff there.
- The list of changes is huge - if you want a nice summary, you need to wait for the next stable release.

Anything else?
- If you run bleeding edge code, we kindly ask you to give something back - bug reports. Tell us what is not working, so we can fix it.

These builds are 'unofficial', in that they are not provided by the Magic Lantern Development team. The entire raw recording thing is bleeding edge (not even alpha code), so it's not yet included in the official nightly builds.

These builds may contain enhancements that are not reviewed by the Magic Lantern team. The build maintainers must point out the changes they have made, compared to the official repo.

These builds are linked here for the sole purpose of making them more accessible.  It is the user's responsibility to understand the risks and review the code before running it on their camera.  If anything goes wrong, we (the Magic Lantern development team) don't pay for repairs.

IMPORTANT NOTES

* If you have a bootable CF/SD card and have the DISKBOOT flag
set in the camera (which the installer does), and you do not
have an AUTOEXEC.BIN file on the card the camera WILL NOT BOOT.
It will hang and not wake up until the battery is removed.

* If you encounter a "locked up" camera, quickly remove the battery.
Otherwise the ARM might be in a tight-loop and get very hot, very quickly.
Your battery will run down and your LCD might show some discoloration.

* When in doubt, remove the battery and reboot.

* And, remember that this software can damage or destroy your camera.

These build are provided by members for members.  Please always be respectful of members that take their time to provide others with updated builds to try.

I have builds for the 40D, 50D, and 5D3 built with all available modules included (although I did not remove the ones which aren't supported by particular camera models, so YMMV). I can easily add additional models to my build process, if there are any which need nightly builds made available.

https://bitbucket.org/rufustfirefly/magic-lantern/downloads

NOTES: These builds do not have the FIR loaders for the respective cameras included (at least, not as of 2013-08-28), and I'm still looking around for a 40D FIR ML loader, if anyone has one compiled....

Hi, this version along with Sept. 2nd, they both completely crash after loading modules. Does anyone know the latest stable release? The last version that I ran that worked pretty well is July 16th build. Was looking for a newer build, but also one that is stable. Thanks a ton!

(I have 5d mark iii, firmware 1.13, etc..)

Both work fine for me only issue is Picture Viewer & File Manager and they know about the API mismatch.
