@reddeercity
I figured out what I did wrong and not being able to do 3x crop recording. Never thought about it, but I had Exposure Simulation enabled in the Canon LV menu. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/Smileys/aaron/shocked.gif
Here we go, mea culpa!
Thanks for your help :-)

Hello,

I don't know if this question was already asked before but every users of ML know how work the native monitoring in 3X crop mode (ML greyscale is slow and zoomed picture for the canon normal liveview)
I wish to know if it's possible to get a more fast picture with the ML greyscale mode if i use an external monitor or else the problem will be the same ?

I use a 5D mark III, 113 version.

Are there a difference between CROP MODE in RAW 1:1 3x and 1:1 CENTERED x5 Zoom, and Zoom without CROP Mode?

I perceive the only one is the Centered, with some pixel to the center. But I'm sure there are more than I know.

THank You.

Hi budafilms,

When you set crop module to RAW 1:1 3x then as soon as you enter video mode the 3X zoom factor is applied and you get perfect canon like view that is centered.  This mode is limited to a max resolution of 1920x1080, you can go smaller but not larger.  Other options like 60 fps recording is also possible but the resolution changes to 1920x648 or smaller.  Finally this module can also be used with standard canon video.

In 1:1 CENTERED x5 Zoom the video mode begins in the standard un-zoomed mode and then you can zoom by pressing the zoom button.  Here you get  the gray-preview for framing and you can increase the resolution beyond the 1920x1080.

Since this requires to use the special crop_module it has a separate thread for more details on how it works here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=17021.0

Any additional discussions regarding this "special" module should go there.

Hi Magic Lantern users,
I haven't been updating my ml build for 2 years now..
is there already a way to see the proper and right frame when recording in crop mode?
It sucks that we see the 5x magnification, but actualy its recording in 3x magnification.
Any workaround?

Thanks so much

Check out the experimental builds. There's a very nice crop mode activated with the zoom button that gives the correct framing.

Hey Guys, was searching through this thread but didn't see the answer. I use 5D3.

When shooting 10x magnification 10-bit 1920x1080 5fps low light, everything works perfect, recording running green, light is flashing allocating etc... BUT there are no .MLV at the card when I put it to reader.

Did anything similar happen to you? Do you know where could be the problem?

Thank you for the reply!
