How can we start helping into developing Raw Video?

I did some silly tests with silent pics burst but will do a more serious one.. For now I did not get any pink frames.. but only 2 to 3 seconds of video.. I noticed some green "aberrations" on some borders of objects, I saw that this had happened in the development of raw video.

So, how can we get at the same level of development as other cameras? What do we need? Testers we have, do we have a dev? Someone to program??

If the code is already done, isn't just a matter of changing a few values to address the proper "properties" of the 7D? Asking from my complete ignorance..

Would love to help by testing, tell me how please!! :)

Cheers!

BTW: I have only 133x Transcend CF cards... (will buy the KB in the future.. 1000x or 600x given that is the 7D?)

I think I've found the bug.
Please try it and report if it is OK.

7D is the only camera where writing is faster than reading.

1.  How do we delete the temp files? Where does it store them
**EDIT** Found them  C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Local\Temp  Folder is in there.
2.  What if instead of checking the date and downloading if newer, have a button for deleting the temp files to force a recheck, and always have it download the latest file?
Always have the same file name (7Dbeta.zip for instance) and always upload updates with the same name so the app always pulls the latest file from the server reguardless if we have MM/DD/YY, YY/DD/MM, etc.

I have no problem with that, the faster the write speed the better :)  Strange tho, will have to test later with mine see if I get similar results. What card are you using?

angelom

A1ex, can you please split this thread in order to close the discussion about alpha 2 and open a new, clean thread about the new configuration?
I still think that the new thread should be opened by Britom using the 1st post as repository for instructions and all the links we do need, updated every time something change... I think he deserve this.

I disagree. Until there's a proper subset of ML that works perfectly (probably including the Raw video) and the devs decide to release the next version of ML for 7D (Alpha 3 or Beta 1) the thread should be kept to minimal. We're still talking about alpha 2 here, albeit with autorun now. It's confusing enough to hunt different modules etc across different threads. We don't need a new one to complicate that further.

Works perfectly!

Thanks! And thanks for the new build! :D

I too disagree in splitting the thread for now... I've put a new thread up for installing on the 7D and its been getting a good response from everyone, Im trying to keep it updated with the most common questions asked and keep that organized (it can be found here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7464)

For now this thread has evolved to general development / testing for the 7D. What we could use probably is deleting the old threads asking the same questions over and over and perhaps in the front add info thats buried in piles of posts. A general cleanup, or one of the first posts updating links to the latest files as they are posted.

Yes! This version also works with my version of Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit.
Thank you very much Pelican!

And to add to Pileot's suggestions:
When rightclicked the ML icon there is room for two buttons; [Clear cache] and [Download files]

1. You don't need to delete anything if the program works as planned.
2. Yeah, there are thousands of solutions but I've chosen this...
Have you tested it?

Edit:
I see others tested it and worked.

Nice, it's a fast camera, should be better than the 5D Mark II, isn't?

I think it's at least comparable to the 5DMkIII ...

Working now :) EOScard does not crash anymore.  Do we need to put new nightly builds in there or it is done for us with EOSCard from the download server

I disagree too, as we're talking about all but the alpha 2, at least referring to the last 6/7 pages.
Anyway, no problem...

You're welcome! Thanks for the eoscard and the nightlies :3

Thanks for the nightly build!!

One question.. as the new 7D firmware said it accepted UDMA 7 cards.. BUT it will treat it as UDMA 6... which CF card should I buy?? The 1000x or the 600x? It was never enough clear to me what they were doing with the speeds...

Thanks!

The faster is better even in 7D. If you want maximum speed you have to buy the fastest card.
It will not as fast as the card's max. speed but you will use all the power of the 7D...

The SilentPic Mode is beautiful, knocking H.264 out, but only it stops after 1-2 seconds, I really hope to get the jpg output from LV back as the Alpha2 used to do, but couldn't find the setting everywhere I looked. May somebody show me the way?

hello all,

I have a problem with ml alpha 2 (original version from december) on my 7d.

When I have fresh installed ml all things work fine, I can play around with the settings an so on.

But some times (I can not reproduce the behavior at the moment), after I want to load ML, the display don't show "Firmware update program loading" anymore. The camera will now do nothing. Switch on/off, remove battery, nothing helps do bring me back a working camera.
Than I have to remove the battery and delete the config-file in the settings-folder. Now the original firmware will start again.

config-differences:
working config:
beta.warn = 0
menu.first = 11835118
battery.drain.rate.rev = 239

don't working config:
beta.warn = 4
menu.first = 9738990
battery.drain.rate.rev = 0

I use a CF-adapter for SDXC/SDHC-cards from DELOCK.

Anyone has an hint, what's the/my problem? Do I am the problem? Anybody else with this problem?

There's another user with a problem while using a CF adapter, after he moved to a CF card no problem at all so it seems that CF adapters are not a good choice when used with ML.
