December 18 2012 update: The Final Cut Pro 10.0.6 update broke this version of the plug-ins. I've come up with a replacement, see later post...

I've updated my plug-in for Final Cut Pro X to be much more flexible when it comes to how the under- and over-exposed frames are combined.

For each kind of frame (under-exposed or over-exposed) you can
- Set blend mode (darken, lighten, multiply etc.)
- Set opacity
- Choose a luma key - select which parts of the frame to use based on luminance values. You can use the brightest or darkest parts of the frame for example
- Set overall brightness, contrast and gamma using PhotoShop-style levels controls

You can choose to overlay the under-exposed frames on the over-exposed frames or vice versa.

If you want to combine the frames in other ways, you can choose to display the source frames in more than one copy of generator and use Final Cut Pro X to do your composition.

Visit my blog post to find out more.

Due to constraints in the way Final Cut Pro X (and Motion) do effects, I had to make a generator for each HDR frame rate. I've started with 59.94 and 50 fps. I'll make different frame rates on request.

I was so excited to see this, and the very disappointed when I found out it no longer works.  I would def donate to a new working version.

I've come up with a workaround for the set of generators I used to have on my blog.

If you visit my blog, you'll see a single new Magic Lantern HDR effect which works in Final Cut Pro 10.0.6 and 10.0.7.

As before, you can choose which frames are composited on which (even over odd or odd on top of even).

Additionally you set the frame rate of the project you're using the clip in, and choose whether to have a black or white background to composite over.

Here are the modified controls:

I have very little experience of which settings work well for different source footage, so it would be very useful if people with HDR skills could share recipes using these controls.
