if I remember correctly, the 500d 1080p video cannot be increased beyond 22fps. I haven't worked on the 500d port since last year though, maybe things have changed

then it is a lie that all cameras record at 24 fps in 1080p?

Sure, mine doesn't  :o

You can record 1080p @ 24 fps only if your camera can record natively at that FPS or higer (i.e. if it has 1080p @ 25 fps or 30 fps)
