Photo Matching on live view

I was wondering if there was a way to show a dimmed version of a photo while on live view. That way one could use that photo to match its orientation while taking a new photo. This would allow easy cheesy photos of your self twice in the same picture on different days or even different years. It would allow you to pose for a project you started today and finished a year later. You could take a photo that is old and add your subject to it in the same location at different times. The key is to be able to orient the camera to get the background to be almost exactly the same. This for example could be used to show before and after photos of new urban development or even of war or other such life changing event that transforms a place where you took the initial photo. I think its a bit of a challenge, but who knows, maybe its possible.
