Hi there,

It is often said that DSLRs contain tables with lens specific data to support accurate autofocus. See here https://wordpress.lensrentals.com/blog/2010/07/how-autofocus-often-works/.

My question is: has anyone in this forum come across such data in camera firmware? Is it possible to tell which lenses a certain camera body supports with AF specific data?

I never managed to get accurate AF out of my EF-S 15-85 on the EOS 40D where the older 17-85 worked just fine. That 15-85 was made after the 40D went EOL, so I suspect this could be due to the camera missing the precise "correction values" to be applied for the new lens. (Note this does not seem to be a calibration issue; the system is not consistently front or back focusing).

In order to avoid such problems in the future, I am curious to find out which lenses are properly supported by my current cameras.

Any ideas?

Thanks
