Since updating to the newest version of ML (from 5/16/2016 to 12/3/2016) the half press of the shutter no longer auto focuses in the manual modes (P, TV, AV, and M) but will in the auto modes. Currently the zoom out button is set for focusing.  I am new to using ML and have been looking around for a while now to try to get this function back.  Any ideas of what I am doing wrong or is this how it is suppose to work?

Back button AF is a Canon feature. Check the manual that came with your camera (you failed to specify which one).

Thank you for responding :)

I have the T5i.  The original Canon firmware allowed the half press focus and the older version of ML did as well.  I though it was odd that the updated ML would allow the half press focus on the non-manual modes and on the older ML firmware.

It has nothing to do with ML. Please read the Canon manual page 301 (also note what is said on page 295).
