I don't have this module installed and just read about it as a possible solution but i know nothing about it.
I understand to record raw crop mode I must hit the zoom button. However once i hit record the preview becomes more like 10x crop  instead of the expected 4x crop based on ff sensor. The image is also very dull instead of just gray. aspect ratio is also changed.

There is a live view setting for snapping to 5x center when using crop - I can't remember exactly where and I don't have the camera to hand. You won't see the full capture area in crop mode and grayscale looks better than all pink - there was plenty written about this on the forum.
