Hi guys,

I am kind of curious any of you does shoot RAW in crop mode?
How to do the perfect framing?

I am using 6D right now.
I have a big downtime trying to figured how to  do the framing in 5x zoom.

Anyone mind to share some tips?
Thanks!

In ML menĂ¹ go to
Pref-> Focus box setting->snap point->center to 5x Raw
so you got the centre.

Not sure if the 6D is the same as 5D2 , I wrote a quick post in the "How to record: -- RAW Digital Cropped Video 30/24fps on 5D3 & others"   thread
about framing in 3x crop mode with 5D2 with a short video tutorial I made,
basically press the half shutter button with Liveview in "Auto Mode" this give me proper framing all the way to 2048x1024 and more .
Hope that helps

@reddeercity

thanks for the video.
but unfortunately on the 6D when on the crop mode(x5 zoom), its really zoomed in alot. (the actual recorded frame will be more wider, there is no way to fix this? I shooting for wedding videos, there is no retake if the framing is messed up :()

and the lag is something is unuseable for me, because I need to constantly refocus while shooting wedding. (for now I turn off global draw while recording so i can have realtime fps for focusing, but I lose all the overlays)

Under Raw menu set preview to ML Grayscale, that will show the actual framing.
once you go raw you never go back

@Kharak

wow! I didnt know the grey mode is the actual framing.
NICE! thank you very much!

too bad it will lag on that mode when recording. (anyway use 2 global draw preset can quick fixed it!)
