Hello,

I am filming with a 5DMK3, and it works great, except that when a lightsource comes into frame the exposure seams to drop, and when a light exits the frame the exposure goes up.

Anyone know if it's a setting in the camera that's wrong or any thing?

There is only a LUT applied to the footage, and some exposure white balance corrections in AE Camera RAW.

You are experiencing the ACR flicker.

If you change any of the sliders in ACR like highlights, shadows, clarity etc.. Basically all sliders except Exposure and WB. Then you will encounter flicker depending on the lightsources in your frame.

This is due to ACR doing automatic adjustments like it would do to a photo. ACR is designed for photography, it was never intended for Videography, therefore the program handles each frame individually and not as a continues shoot. So with one frame having a bright lightsource and the next no lightsource, ACR will adjust accordingly.

Search the forum for Deflicker.

You can also search for Cinelog-C or VisionLog. These are Digital Camera Profiles that you can apply in ACR, you won't have to adjust the highlights/shadows sliders cause these DCP's are effectively a LOG you are applying to the image and will not cause any flicker.

The forum, especially the Post Processing section has all the information you need.

Try and search before asking, because the forum is riddled with duplicate questions regarding exactly this question and many others that can easily be found if you only use the search function of the forum

Just make sure you are on the Main Forum page when you are doing the search so you are searching the entire forum and not just the subforum you are looking, like this one only being in the RAW VIDEO section.

Good luck.
