I have a 2.4gb file - the last shot of the day - that won't convert using RAWmagic or raw2dng.  The shot filled the card, at which point I got the usual overrun error message from the camera.  Is there any way I can salvage the data?   I'm wondering - are these over-run files always corrupted?

Yes.

The RAW format is extremely simple: RAW image data from the sensor is dumped straight to the card for each frame, then at the very end of the file is written a little footer that is needed to interpret the rest of the file correctly (width, height, # of frames, etc.). The flaws and potential for corruption due to this scheme should be obvious. It was really only intended for development purposes. This is why MLV was created -> it's much more robust (and it has some pretty important metadata, and supports audio recording, spanning, and more). I strongly advise using MLV format instead.
