Hey guys,

im just wondering if anyone knows how much the picture gets "smaller/cropped" when recorded in 720p 16/9 RAW compared to the normal focal lenght. I really need a ultra wide angel and it seems like its impossible for me to get a wide angel in combination with raw video.

thanks ! :)

Consider using uncropped resolution and downscale in post.

Thanks Walter for your fast reply !

I would love to but I am on a 700d and this is the highest resolution I get.

Im just thinking about getting a 8mm Fisheye now. The distortion should not be to extreme anymore as the corners are already cut. But if this doesnt work well, I guess thats killing the raw feature for me or better said my limited camera.

There is a Sigma 8-16, too. According to Photozone it is not that easy to get a decent one (3 decentered samples out of 4), but personally I have no experience with this one.

I will give both a try ! Thank you :)

For now I will use 1728 x 692 to not get my left and right borders cropped if I really need the full angle.

Only thing is I can only shoot 20 seconds but thats a good start !
