Hacking Google Glass

Has anyone been following glass? Would it be possible to hack the camera and improve it? Here are the glass epcs:

Photos - 5 MP
Videos - 720p
12 GB of usable memory, synced with Google cloud storage. 16 GB Flash total.
One day of typical use. Some features, like video recording, are more battery intensive.

What if you hacked the glass to disable the social media/apps aspect and reprogrammed it to focus completely on the camera? Or change the frame rate or image quality?
