Can you do another test? Look in raw video menu while recording a H.264 video.

I still can't believe 1920x1080 is upscaled from 1728x567...

Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

Back then, I've personally used ML 2.3 on 5D2 for two weeks, 2-3 battery charges daily, and had zero issues (no crashes or lockups or strange things). Sure, it was mostly photos, a lot of them in LiveView and a few clips with FPS override and timelapses with intervalometer.
#8778
First, can you try to use the camera without card? (see if it takes pictures and LiveView is working). Then, clear all camera settings and custom functions.

If all of these are working, try a new card.

Well, in this case I'm sad to notice the EOS-M wins the first place for worst image quality...

What do you think we use the buffers for? Drawing stars on the display?

Well... for storing a few more frames. This is the strong point of 60D: a few seconds at high resolution.

For continuous recording, don't expect more than 960x540 at 24 fps.

Reproduced.

Does the preview type affect the results?

Feature Requests / Re: Option to remove crop box

Enable grayscale display and you don't get a cropbox, because the image it's zoomed.

In 5x it's not displayed...

I didn't try it yet on HDMI.

Max resolution 1920x1080 no crop: 1728x672

That must be a mistake; can you upload a DNG silent picture?

Well, in Digital Video, pushing gain gives more noise. And we always try to keep it to 0!
In digital photography they still use the 'ISO' magic word, but technically speaking it is just gain.

So yes, I'm very surprised by your second remark.   ;-)

Look at the pictures from here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5693.msg41110#msg41110

Which is noisier? ISO 100 or ISO 3200?

#8786
Look in image finetuning -> digital ISO. In raw video, it will only affect the preview, not the recorded image.
#8787
Only a very small amount on 5D2, according to this chart: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6215

Maybe it's more useful for 2.35:1 with vertical panning?

Heh, I thought it's clear for everybody that more light = less noise.

Also higher ISO = less noise (all other things being equal), but that's another story.

@yoshiyuki: can you also try these two?

http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/raw2dng_wlog_ev.exe (log weight, histogram in EV instead of multiplication factors, no longer skewed)
http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/raw2dng_w1_ev.exe (weight=1, histogram in EV)
#8790
Cool. Now I have one DNG that has banding in the sky with these weights, and looks perfect with the one from the repo. Go figure...
#8791
Hm, looks like weighting for highlights was the issue here.

Can you try these two converters?
http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/raw2dng_w1.exe (weight=1)
http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/raw2dng_wlog.exe (weight=log(x))
#8792
The resulting DNG looks perfectly clean here...

Raw Video / Re: 1.40 or 1.67 in 720P mode?
June 07, 2013, 03:50:17 PM
It's camera-specific.
#8794
Yep, it's the same as mine. The conversion log is whatever it prints on the terminal.

Can you upload the source raw? (or better, the first few MB of it)
#8795
You sure about that? Post the md5sum of raw2dng you have used and the conversion log.
#8796
Why not just setting the shutter speed to 1/50?
#8797
Yes, raw2dng has banding correction, and the algorithm was tweaked a few times.
#8798
Can you open this DNG in photoshop? http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/000000.dng

In ufraw it's 100% clean.
#8799
Try this: raw2dng myraw.raw myfolder/

These things are camera-specific.
