General Help Q&A / Eos m series
October 19, 2017, 05:48:42 AM
Hey everyone,

I'm thinking to get Eos m series camera,  purely from magic Lantern user perspective,  which one of the Eos m cameras would offer best bang for the buck?

Or perhaps there is a better option in Eos cameras,  although I'm leaning to m as I like it's form factor a lot.

Thank you all very much for any suggestions or ideas!

thank you everyone very much for the advice, I will go for used 5D3 when 5D4 comes out.... that must be the best camera with ML

Hi Everyone,

I used magic lantern on 5D2 up to two years ago and I loved it, couldn't shoot video without it.

I want to get an EOS camera again and I wonder if I could ask for opinions, what would be most cost effective EOS these days for use with magic lantern.

My use would be to shoot interviews and short films, I would like solid low light performance, I have Sigma 18-35 1.8 nikon mount and speedbooster for it, so I was thinking I could use that lens with the EOS M with some adapters but perhaps there is a better option, I would definitely like to continue using this lens as I've been using it for two years now with BMPCC and now with BMCC micro studio.

BMCC micro studio really sucks in low light... I'm using it with Odyssey7Q, I imagine I would also like to use Odyssey7Q to record off EOS camera.

Does anyone have experience with the EOS and Odyssey7q and/or Sigma on the speedbooster?

Raw Video / music video
June 05, 2013, 06:15:38 PM
Hey guys!

I am running around from gig to gig, sorting through messages on these forums is very time consuming, could someone point me perhaps to a thread where I could find out as much step by step information that I could apply to my upcoming music video shoot....

The artist I'm shooting the unpaid() music video for was able to secure amazing location for our shoot, a beautiful condominium building model apartment with huge windows for a whole day plus.... 3 more beatiful model apartments after 5pm.... plus! rooftop with mini golf course and the full access there and the New York skyline... plus!!!! the parking garage.

And she is gorgeous!!!!!

So I'm thinking to take advantage of this one day shoot to the fullest and perhaps shoot it RAW

we will have several laptops there for dumping footage and drives, I have the 32GB lexar 1000x and bunch of slower cards

I have lights, solid shoulder mount rig and tank tripod... and a slider

could someone give me step by step how to set up my 5D2 to shoot RAW? this is music video, sound doesn't matter, will feed directly to camera from the same player that will play on the set, and the takes can be very short...

seems to me this is once in the lifetime for me....

help please =)

just one quick note, the Lexar 1000x 16GB is much slower!

I need to shoot a music video is it possible to connect the sound source to both speaker and the mic input on the 5D2 to record video while recording the music recording they are lip syncing to?

can't just take pics in movie mode, the film is time lapse then video then time lapse again then video again... I guess I will just have to stop intervalometer, start recording and then back again, just wanted to do it with a camera's back to the wall in a tight spot when I switch to video and then back to intervalometer

General Help Q&A / time lapse to normal video switching
December 01, 2012, 08:13:23 AM
Hi,

New project I'm developing could benefit from ability to record time lapse using the intervalometer and then switching to video recording with just a half press of shutter button and back again to intervalometer with another half shutter release, is it possible to set it up?

And if not is there something equivalent to this where there is no need to move the camera around too much, actually I use wired remote shutter release button so anything with that would be awesome.

love your suggestions guys, all of those could be rolled up into this one checklist page with few display and notification options, maybe we can put this to vote to see if enough people think they would be more productive if they could use such a feature not to forget important steps in their shoot or settings, in a long run this might save you from having to reshoot, which may sometimes be impossible...

Feature Requests / Checklist with popup reminders

Would it be great to have a new additional and optional page in the ML menu which would be a CHECKLIST.

You could use it optionally so it would appear in the menu if needed and you would also be able to select from the list of popular checklist items as well as add your own and then on the page as you are about to shoot you could go to the page and make sure you completed all the steps before the shoot, you could even check off the items you did.

would be cool to have some sort of a pop up as well that would come on after camera comes back from stand by or there is some interval of not shooting to ask few selectable and editable questions such as:

Has the light temperature changed?
Adjust polarizing filter please.

and so on...

what do you guys think?

*edit: Post subject to include the request

General Chat / best new(or used) camera to buy?
August 23, 2012, 09:45:42 PM
Based on my research so far I decided to get used 5d2 with magic lantern of course, my main objective is to shoot film, got bunch of fast and some older then me Nikon lenses, got anamorphic adapter and will shoot on streets of New York in the day and at night, but I also love taking pictures, is 5D2 optimal? I can't afford the 5D3...

any suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated!
