The latest crop_rec build for 5D3 1.1.3 shows me an incorrect live-view mode. After having imported the footage, they all turned out shifted lower than what I was seeing on my 5D3 screen. Also the aspect ratio crop is wrong. It says to crop it 1.67x but that shows a completely distorted image

Edit: also the exposure is way off. screen on 5D3 shows a way darker image

so sweet to have raw footage on sandy sceneries...nice shots and simple cuts... not that shitty boring kolder transitions :)
welcome to Alaska :DD well done

Thank you for the kind words. Had to google 'kolder transitions' and I must admit I have used it a couple of years ago myself, but indeed it's getting out of hand where every transition utilizes this effect.

Seeing how ML handles the dusty environment in Egypt.
Let me know what you think!

(Some shots were filmed without ML)

I am experiencing different shutter speed recording in resolutions higher than 1920x1080, mainly in the 3.5k 1:1 mode. I set my shutter at 1/50 for my regular 1080p 14 bit recording but when I change to lets say 2880 resolution, the maigclantern shutter speed suddenly shows 1/30 or so, but also after having imported the footage it says 1/30 while my Canon shutter speed is on 1/50.

Also the whitebalance doesn't work in crop mode 3.5k 1:1. everytime I 'half-press shutter' in 3.5k mode, the liveview has a completely different tone than when not in crop mode

Firmware 1.2.3 and 1.1.3(on this firmware now), 5DIII, komputerbay 1066x 64gb

Nice that you're testing it but the compositions look really off. I guess this is because of the crop factor where you can't really see what you shoot. How do you plan to work around this?

Yes, it's the same as with the older versions. The footage is incredibly dark when I import it.

Very nice app. However, whenever I load my MLV files in MLVProducer, the footage exposure goes down drastically. I have also opened it with MLRawViewer and the exposure there is the same as I shot. But when I edit it in MLVProducer, I have to crank up the exposure with 3.0 - 4.0 to get the same exposure as when I shot. I am aware of the different LOG functions it has. It's on default (AdobeRGB)

Edit: when I import the mlv (the image is still underexposed) and export as cdng. The cdng's look different than what I saw on MLVProducer, and it looks like how I exposed it in camera.

How can I solve this?

I would like to do the color correcting in an app - either MLVProducer or AE. My preference goes to MLVProducer as I won't have to convert the mlv's to cdng's. So hopefully my workflow will be :
Import into MLVProducer, color correct and export as Proress
Import the Proress into adobe PP, edit, grade, export

Anything? Still having this issue.

Incredible work Francis! I also checked out some BTS videos on your vimeo, huge props for using ML on commercial shoots.

Haven't seen any 4k crop footage, may I ask why?

Thanks for the LUT's!

Most threads are a bit outdated as the software developes and developes Yuppa.

Guess I'll wait another 1-2 months before purchasing a new DSLR. ;)

I'm new to this site but I see you're a developer. What's your opinion about the development of SD cameras and RAW video? Do you think it'll get better in a few months time? the 50d never crossed my mind actually.

edit: I found out that the 50d doesn't have certain resolutions. It's kinda a must have to shoot 1080/24 and 720/50

Hi,

I'm owning a 550d right now and I'm dying to shoot RAW with it. A few weeks ago I read that it wasn't that compatible yet with the 550d and decided to sell my 550d for an upgrade, luckily I didn't had the time to do this yet. (cropped sensor due to not having money for L lenses)

Is there any summary of what camera works best with ML raw video? I would like to record as long as possible on the highest resolution ofcourse. ;)

My excuses for my lazyness. I know I could read all the topics with the different cameras, but a summary would be easier.
