Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 50D
July 20, 2014, 12:14:16 AM
Forgive the ignorance if this has been answered but with the new developments with SRM, are we to consider this only affects record duration and not raster size? Will the 50D always be locked at 1500+ in normal, non zoomed mode or are we expecting full frame someday? Also, has any done a side by side comparison with the 50D with and without VAF?

What about support for other NLEs? Seems like everyone has creative cloud on the brain here. I would love native AMA support in Media Composer or something for FCP X (I realize FCP7 wouldn't have any use because of ProRes 4444 limitations).

Quote from: dogmydog on January 30, 2014, 08:00:48 PMFrom my tests so far, only the first 3 pink frames.

This isn't every time. For me, it's like 20% pink / corrupted frames (sometimes as many as 5). This is a big deal because if you write an app to process / convert DNG it will reject the entire string of images. Hopefully this can be addressed in future updates.

Good plot / funny situational humor.
Nice car mount stuff. What MM lens were you using on the mount stuff?

One more thing . . . make sure you specify the exact frame rate such as 23.976 for best results. You can enter it manually in after effects. You see, ML gives you the option to set exact FPS. So you should enter the "Actual FPS" in ML RAW video menu. . .

I second this advice. Also, you can change the default in preferences always to import at 24FPS.

Maybe they figured a way to encoded directly into a QuickTime container. //end speculation.

Wonder if it's for TL only? lol

mlv_dump to process the files could be greatly reduced by having different input and output drives.

Explain how this would be faster please. I understand the concept of reading from one drive and writing to another but I don't think it would be a huge difference. I just processed 500 GB of MLV and it took under 2 hours on my i7 4770.

Yeah deleting the frames is a solve but the issue is I'm developing a script that calls for the first frame to be imported in ACR so it's a bigger issue for me. Automation needs these first frames intact.

Good stuff. What lens? Was this ACR graded? Any idea of what the focal length multiplier would be when all is said and done?

I shot something similar over the holiday break in Maui ;)

I'm encountering a strange error with the first three frames being corrupted with the latest TL build. It happens about the 20% of the time and the MLV is still usable if you delete the black frames.

Anyone else experiencing this?
Is this a card warm up issue?

Hi Gang,

I'd love some help to develop an automated script for my after effects workflow.

Currently, I shoot on Andy's latest 50D TL. It's all full frame 1584 x 892 MLV.

Then I create DNG from Danne, Dubzeebees and g3gg0's recursive script with the help of MLV Dump.

The issue is I have 500 GB of unpacked DNG which all needs to be processed in AE.

So I got to thinking about AE's scripting capabilities and have a script outline planned:

AE would have to import the first DNG in a directory folder which in turn opens ACR. A default ACR preset would be selected, with color balance, noise reduction and auto color selected. Import is checked once these settings are automated.

After importing, the script creates a new composition from the imported material. Then it calls for the transform function scaled 121% and the composition setting is set to 1920x1080 @ 23.976.

Lastly, the script adds the comp to a render queue selecting ProRes 4444 (default output module) and source directory for output.

Once done, the script is reset and digs into the next folder in order, selecting the proceeding first DNG.

If done some light scripting in AE but have generally knowledge about it. What are the potential pitfalls?

I've been digging through Christopher Green's scripts as a starting point. Mainly his Selected_Comps_Changer.jsx - have a look at www.crgreen.com/aescripts/

Thanks,

Raw Video / Re: mlv_rec vs raw_rec

*Optional is to change the mlv_dump to the latest one and run the commandscript.

Looks like I needed to update MLV Dump in usr/bin to get spanning working. Thanks. Also, in your other post I'd mention that people need to chmod before they can use the script. Excellent work all!

Interestingly, when I use the new version of mlv dump on a 10.7.5 system, it generates thumbnails but when I bring over other DNG folders from a 10.9 system, no thumbnails are present.

you can try above "app" for batchprocesding mlvfiles.
Pretty easy to install

Danne- I still have the old recursive script. Has spanning been fixed with the newest version? Not near a computer to test.

WAO !

Now, in the last Andy release, 23,9fps and even 24fps works with 1920x1080 (full HD) continuous !

To be clear the current TL is 1584x793 (non crop). The full HD crop is what you're referencing.

It all sounds a bit extreme to me. I wonder how film makers of old coped with just having a traditional slate?

+1

My first feature was synced by slate. It just works. Plural eyes is lazy and not 100% (FCPX for that matter too).

This solution is only "easy" if you can develop with the coding.

Check here. There should be the same recursive command for PC. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9679

So if cDNG could be created from MLV Dump it would create thumbs at the same time? Just trying to wrap my head around the issue...

Thanks guys,

Here's the only checkbox I see in ACR. I would never do this for thousands of DNG files though.

#23
They are created with mlv dump.
#25
Not working. Have Adobe CC and CS6 installed. ACR doesn't have a generate preview option in Finder.
