General Chat / Canon printer drivers
May 04, 2014, 02:05:58 PM
Hi All,

First of all sorry if this is posted in the wrong part, but was unsure which area to post it in. Right I have just purchased a Canon printer (Pixma IX6550) and I am very happy with the printer except for one thing which is the limit of the size of paper that I can print on which is around 13" x 26" which is good for most things that I print, but I have just started to do panoramic images which can be upto 50" long so I wanted to know does anyone of you know if the print driver software can be altered by reverse engineering to make it that I can print images upto 50" long and if so how would I go about it, I am sure that it can be done, but have no idea where to start.

Any help would be appreciated

Just a quick question last night I was out shooting with my 7D and a couple of others that were with me had the 5D mkII and they showed me on the 5D mkII using the magic lantern software how to set the camera to check the color balance using Kalvin. They pressed the AWB on the top of the camera while the live view was on then pressed the set button and the software did it's magic and set the correct kalvin automatically, but when I tried the same with the 7D it did not work, is there another way to set this on the 7D or is this not yet in the Alpha 2 version.

Feature Requests / Re: [WONTFIX] Canon 7d HDR
April 03, 2013, 08:14:31 PM
Hi All,

Thanks for all the info, will have a look at setting it on auto to see how that works out. Me try to change the config file or write a script is not gonna happen as I would not know where to start so unless Alex is able to send me some sort of guide on how to do it I think it's gonna be a problem. The only time when I really notice the noise it is when I am shooting a night scene so maybe this could have something to do with it. The software that I use is Nik HDR pro2 so think it's not a software issue and I only shoot a t low iso (100 or 200) so don't think that's the issue.

Cheers

Feature Requests / [WONTFIX] Canon 7d HDR
April 02, 2013, 09:41:54 PM
Hi,

This was asked before in the 7D forum, but gonna put it in here as a request. Okay when in shoot mode could we have the images taken in HDR mode be able to set to more than 9 (say to maybe 30), the reason is that when I shoot HDR I tend to shoot in a 3rd of a stop increments as this tends to give less noise and being able to shoot more than 9 images would help me do a large range on the number of stops.

Cheers

Not sure if this can be done for the next release, but gonna ask anyway. Earlier on in this post it was asked if when in photo mode can the number of HDR pictures taken be set so that it can take more than a total of 9 images (Maybe upto 30)

We can't make custom versions for every single user, but you can compile ML yourself and disable what you don't use. Or just hide these things from the menu (read the manual).

Thanks for the info Alex  :)

...thank you...yes that's truth....but why nobody didn't upload a demo video about photography with ML on 7D cameras? I use more the photo mode than camera mode in mine, but I will install it because I like it a lot....I was just curious about that....
thank you for being patient...!!!

I'm the same Chris in that I only use ML for the photography side of things I have never used ML on the video side and never will as I have
no interest in video. Using ML on the photography side of things is just great it has fantastic features which makes the 7D like a now camera, as beej says read the ML docs on the website to see what you are able to do  :).
Just a quick question to G3gg0 is it possible to have a cut down version that ONLY includes the stuff that is use on the photography side of things ?

That's great thanks for being patient with me just need to test it out  ;D

Is the letter of the card on win for example:

E:\misc\

E: is the root. misc and dcim are subfolder of root folder.

When I put the CF card into my laptop in my computer it's coming up as EOS_DIGITAL (E:), so do I just uzip it straight onto E: (no need to put it in anyfolders ?)

Also is it just the MAGIC.FIR that I unzip on to the card or that and everything that is in the ML folder ?
#21
Hi All,
okay have done the upgrade to the Canon firmware 2.0.3 and downloaded the ML firmware onto my pc, formatted the cf card in the camera, but now need to uzip the ML firmware into the route folder on the cf card, but which folder is the route folder I have

DCIM (and two other folders in this folder 100EOS7D & EOSMISC)

MISC

Many thanks

Hi All,

Many thanks for the info on how to install ML on my 7D, just a quick question am I right in saying that at the moment once I have installed ML on the 7D I need to keep the same CF card in and shoot with this in and once I have turned the camera off I need to go through the installation of ML again to use it ?

Many thanks

General Chat / Re: What camera are you running ML on?

Canon 7D :)

Hi, need a bit of help, I am very new to all this and own a 7D which I wish to do more with the HDR setting. At the moment the 7D only lets you take 3 images can this be increased with the ML firmware update and if so how many will it allow me to take ?. The 7D that I have has the Canon firmware updated to Ver. 2.0.0. Also I am not sure where to download ML for the 7D on this site and is there instructions on how to install and use the firmware once it has been downloaded.
I do understand that what I am asking is quite easy for some of you on this forum, but as I say I am very new to this.

Many thanks

Mark
