The DJI RS2 is a game changer for filmmaking all around.

I'm thoroughly impressed with this gimbal system.

Though despite the obvious concerns and limitations of the new R line series...
Canon just seems to really cripple their cameras to distaste in many ways.

I had a random thought that inspired me to write this post..

But the usability of MLV Raw with 7d and 5d mk iii is still relevant in 2020 even with the release of the R line.

The overheating concerns to get nice quality and flexible footage (in terms of color grading, too), while usable in post, is still very prevalent with Canon.

Sure, there are extra features that make the camera overall nicer to use, it still doesn't give better video results at the end of the day in the hands of a user.

Sure, it's sharp footage and better tech, but there always seems to be a huge drawback with Canon equipment.

Share Your Videos / Another 7D Car video using RAW.

I haven't stopped using RAW, but I don't think I want to continue to use it for more professional shoots.

I should've shot to expose for the outside.

But hope you like it!

I made a video demonstrating the Neat Video 5 plugin for Premiere Pro.

I upgraded from Neat video 4 and I can tell you it's much faster and more refined, for sure.

This footage was shot with a Canon 7d, Magic Lantern using focus peaking & the upgraded bitrate at 1.4x CBR.

The Canon 7d is notorious for having terrible low light. So I'm using this to fix it.

Hi, made a video. Canon 7D with Magic Lantern.

Regular video with 1.8x CBR bitrate recording at 1080p 24fps.

No more RAW for me.

My friend buys, restores, and sells these classic cars.

We make this content to help sell.

I made my own for fun.

Share Your Videos / Canon 7D raw - 10 bit, 60fps
May 26, 2019, 02:09:21 AM
Hey, just your fellow Magic Lantern-er making more Magic Lantern related videos with my favorite Canon 7d... er.

:D

dfort has done incredible work with the 7d , especially getting the 10 bit raw to work.

Here's a video I did running a full field test with it.

Tuner Evo 2019 - some 90 degree in Miami, Florida. I put my 7d on a rig set up I made a bit ago. Even in the heat, it worked like a charm other than when it was starting to get really really hot.

There were several videos with some corrupted frames, some that had more than frequent, and maybe 1-2 videos that were just completely unusable.
This build was the Mar02 10-12-14 bit raw build. There's a new latest upgraded one dfort just released this past month.

Hope you guys enjoy!

There was NO DENOISING done to this video.

I went to WEKFEST 2018 in the West Palm Beach Convention Center.

If you don't know what that is - it's basically a giant car show with fancy and not so fancy but suped up cars.

Enjoy!

I actually ended up breaking my lens right when I walked in, it split in half. Took an hour to fix it with a pocket knife & tape, got it running, balanced my glidecam, made the video.

No excuses!

After 6 months... I finally binged edited this til 5 am in the morning because I felt the fire and I've been wanting to make this video for a while now.

I'm genuinely REALLY happy with it and I'm proud of what I was able to do with a Canon 7d, VAF Filter, and 2 lenses (basically one because I used my 85mm for 2 shots in this video, which were the dragon lizards).

I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS. I LOVE MAGIC LANTERN. EVERYTHING WAS SHOT RAW. THE COLOR IS AMAZING.

Hey, doing some more tests & shooting for my Canon 7D + VAF Anti Aliasing Filter.

2.0.6 firmware with Dfort's build. Runs solid - was shooting low light this on a new battery pack setup I did.
Kinda freestyle & I had to do this handheld unfortunately because I got a screw stuck in the tripod mount when I went out to film. Didn't remove it til after.

Let me know whatcha think! :D

Here are the results.

Shot this a while back with some of our models.

I sent it out to my buddy in California to put more color grading work under his belt.
7D with a 17-50mm Sigma f/2.8. VAF Filter (LITERALLY CHANGES THE GAME). 2.20:1 ratio, at maximum 1080p quality the camera allows at 14 bit. 23.976. Lexar 128 GB 800x 120/MBs CF Card.

I shoot for color & keep it at FHD. You don't need 4k. It's a gimmick, in my opinion.

Good colors will always catch more attention.

Honestly, I've been ass as catching my focus lately, so some video is soft. I hope you enjoy!
There's more on my channel of lovely 7D footage if you wanna indulge. :)

When I discovered how to do RAW the right way with my canon T2i, I was floored.  :o :D

So I made a couple videos. I hope you enjoy them!
