General Help Q&A / Help finding a working raw workflow
November 09, 2017, 07:41:43 PM
FIXED

I just wanned to thank you guys.

@masc
@reddeercity
@Danne
@Ilia3101

You guys are the t!ts.

Put me as a reference if you ever decide to apply for NASA, I'll return the favor.

Next, is a summary of my journey in case you are curious..

1. I need to find a converter because I want to shot a short using 10bit raw + sound.
2. No a single app works, (just MLVMystic which is  unusable due to the vertical stripes of the 5DM3 )
3. I upgraded from 10.6 to 11.11 This broke all my editing softwares (CS5).
4. Fixed the editing softwares by (I don't remember, I downloaded a bunch of crap from people with the same problem).
5. The MLV converters are readable files now, but I can't install them because my computer thinks that is not safe porn.
6. I learned how to disable the security bs, but it did not worked. I learned a different way, it works.
7. I installed and use the recommended MLV converters. they are good (now I know), but none of my editing softwares can read the files, which means that I didn't know at that time if they work or not because I have never used them.
8. I discovered compatibilities issues, and downloaded the latest raw reader whatever version, it did not work. The files coming from the converters were still unreadable.
9. I ate a sandwich
10. I discovered that I need to enable my editing softwares to understand what a cDNG is. I also discovered that ADOBE discontinued the links and it was a mess.
11. I discovered that it doesn't matter if you dowloaded the latest Raw reader because the adobe software is too old to understand what's going on.
12. I panic
13. I found what was the latest version of raw reader whatever my CS5 poor man editing software can support, and tracked a shady link down. It says that my CS5 don't support the 5DM3 because is old, still I downloaded the file and crossed my fingers.
14. Now I can read cDNG and DNG coming from the MLV converters.

So, the infamous c100 is now under medium end reach. What is stopping you guys now to play with this toy?

I enjoyed discovering so many secrets about the 600D.  But the c100 stole my full attention as well.

Your move.

Share Your Videos / 650D ISO Noise Sample + RAW TEST

I have been using the raw recording function with my T3i and 5D3 since the beginning of this odyssey. But this time I got stuck with a T4i. I forgot how awful the noise is. I wanted to shot raw for my next short film but the FREAKING-PINK-DOTS... Has anybody found a way to eliminate them on a mac with out using java? I frankly can't make it work.

I remember when raw functionality was just a faithful wish. I remembered really well. I started shooting this movie a week before reading "2k 14bits RAW 5D Mark III) would it be possible?" or something like that. I didn't want to raise my expectations but then I saw Neuman's cat and the rest is history.

Forum and Website / What is Magiclantern's next step?
August 01, 2013, 03:54:18 PM
I have been using ML firmware for quite a long time, but it is now that the people are asking me about it, due to the raw module. I can answer all their questions except for this one: Why don't they produce their own camera? The only answer I can come with is: the chef prepare the food but do not sow it. Of course, it is very understandable that ML is a team of developers. (But I just speak for myself. You may want to start selling potato chips if you guys want. Remember... free will?)

So, I'm wondering if you guys want to share some information about your future plans. Remember there is guys that say things like: "Wow. I think everybody should fund ML to produce their own camera, like digital bolex!" eyeieye said.

Extra question: Everybody feel that they owe you, if that's so. ML guys what would you ask for? Money? ponies? women...  :o men?

Any answer would be appreciated

Well, there it is. Its really 1536x656.

This is the link description:

In this test, I tried to shot the maximun resolution I can under 20-21 MB Ps. It happens that by changing the frame rate and then setting your sequence to 24 FPS you can get very decent B roll. Of course, As long as there is not fast momevent everything will be alright. Still, is not super, is just... There. But I got some awesome leafs! With out mention the 3x and 5x crop factor, allow you to go close, vee...ry.... clooose.....
I also got some pink frames, about 3 or 4 shots had pink monsters, but very decent tough.

Overall from 1 to 10 I give it a MEH...

Excellent. No pink frames, no skipping, no bird poop. 0 Problems. If the camera is happy, I'm happy.
