Thanks for your work. I look forward to more posts about 80D ML development. :)

Well, I'm very appreciative. I love that the 40D is chugging along to a usable version. Of course, I wish the 80D were in the same boat, but I am  willing to wait. :)

Hi Heder :)  Just letting you know you're not talking to yourself.  I really appreciate these documentation posts and think they're a valuable addition to the community.  I always turn them over in my mind and see if they might help me with 200D.

Likewise, although I don't have a 200D (Have an 80D though!)  ;D

Thanks Heder. :)

I really don't know why my realism is perceived as sarcasm. I offered an easy calculation for this assumption. Nobody challenged the numbers, yet.

The post you cite doesn't help your case. ;)

Hi! How much longer do you reckon the development of Magic Lantern is going to take for the 80D? Is it possible that it will be done by the end of summer 2020?

With what's going on? Not the best choice for a first post. I know the lockdown might have played a part in folks like heder working harder (and we're grateful), but you assume a lot.

If you start learning programming now it might be possible to have an early port in 2023.

Despite the seeming thoughtlessness of the request, sarcasm isn't helpful either.

But the future ? there are so many cameras that are interessing, I can't
say were I want to go after 40d, we will see, but im only interessed in cameras that is missing ML. For now it's the 40d
(and properly helping 1300D users abit).

You don't mean there's already a version of ML that works on the 80D, do you?

Thanks so much for the continued work! It almost seems as if the finish line is becoming visible on the horizon now.

Once you collect your trophy, might I interest you in running the 80D marathon afterward? ;)

Thank you heder!

Where have You seen comments of similarity between 80D & 200D ?

8 posts above?

In any regard, my comment was in the context of an observer seeing that your post was quite negative in the face of many offering to help; not meant to imply a solution was close.

I'd simply hate to see offers to help dry up as a result of that kind of talk.

Just curious if anyone has made progress in the last seven months, or if things stand as before?

Does not exist Yet & Quite Actually & Sadly > May Never ~

Why would you say such a thing? In fact, the 200D has had some progress, and some have said there's similarity there.

Other are free to chime in, but I think you're in the minority here.

This one is quite straightforward (anyone can follow a tutorial, sit down and debug ML). I've already provided and documented the tools for that.

The only roadblock is finding a 40D owner interested in porting ML on this camera (maybe you?), rather than waiting for someone else.

Don't expect a new port from me; these old models are very low on my priority list. I'm just making sure others have the tools they need to port ML, that's all.

If you want to PM me the steps and risks involved, I might be able to help in that regard.

I started to think this might happen before the 80D was cracked, but it looks that's a bit more lively at the moment.

Are the issues wholly different, or is the primary roadblock common to both efforts?

To think the 40D and the 80D might be on the cusp of being freed from their shackles is inspiring. :)

Beautiful. You are wonderful people. :)

- 80D starts a LOT of tasks, including some filesystem drivers and starts to initialize the image capture backend; other D6 models are catching up.

Is shutter actuation data (shutter count) one of them?

Likely all three.

Give me a pie chart, then.  ;)

Is there anyone currently working on porting ML to the 40D? If not, is that primarily due to the age of the camera, the difficulty, or the devs lacking 40Ds on hand?
