Well, believe it or not, they did downgrade my firmware back to 1.2.3. They asked for a reason and I didn't want to say it was for ML, so I just said I've been using that version for years now on all three of my mk iii cameras bodies and feel most comfortable with it. Anyway, just FYI.

So, I had to send one of my 5d mk IIIs in for repair recently. I've been using ML for firmware 1.2.3 for years now on all three of my mk IIIs without issue. They repaired the camera, but also upgraded the firmware to 1.3.6, locking it from downgrading. So now I'm stuck with a camera that is basically useless to me for video. I'll call CPS (of which I'm a Platinum member) tomorrow to see if they will let me send it in to be downgraded, but my hopes aren't high.

It's ridiculous that they would do this. ML makes the 5D actually usable for video. I have a mk IV that I only use for stills because there's no ML for it yet. If they won't downgrade it, I'm going to have to sell this camera and I guess I'll just buy a BlackMagic Pocket 6K with EF mount instead.

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 5D Mark IV
November 26, 2018, 06:16:34 PM
You guys are doing amazing work. I'm sure you don't hear the praises as much as you do the complaints and demands, so I just want to say that you've helped make my shooting better for years and I can't express how much I appreciate it. I do hope you come out with ML for the Mark IV, the 5Ds being sort of the flagship quality video DSLRs for so long now. I wish Canon would look at what you guys are doing, take note, and include some of these features in their DSLRs from the start. They could easily be the front-runners in all the DSLR video head-to-heads, but they seem to drop the ball every time. I would be happy with just custom frame overlays, focus assist, and auto restarting. If there were some way to add h.264 to the 4K shooting, that would be awesome, but I'm not expecting it.

Does the ML team have a Go Fund Me or some other donation option? I'd like to give some money towards the Mark IV development.

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Hey guys, I recreated the ML Color Palette file using the PNG image that was in the Wiki guide. I went ahead and updated the download links there, but you can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/qwl9qi4y8wqzm9r

Okay, so I went off of the png image in the guide and recreated the color palette. It seems to work. I updated the download links in the guide.

You can download it here:  http://www.mediafire.com/file/qwl9qi4y8wqzm9r

I'm wanting to make some of my own crops for ML, following the instructions here: http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Cropmarks

But the ML Color Palette file download doesn't seem to exist anymore. Does anyone know another place I could get it or does anyone have a copy they could send me?

Thanks!

ServoAF Off Via ScreenTap is Unfortunately Not Avail' but there is a Slightly Clunky WorkAround > Press the FlashUp Button.

That is very helpful, thank you!

The Better Option ~ IMHO ~ Is to use a Tablet + DSLR Controller connected to 70D Via USB ~ I use a Nexus7

& it Works Great ~ You can have any Overlay You want on the Cam & PrettyMuch Full Control of Cam Functions via

the Tablet ~

This is OffTopic for This Thread so EM Me if You wish more info. ~ [email protected] ~

I'm shooting run-and-gun video most of the time, so this option would be very clunky for me.

If your taking still shots aiservo off/on is not such an issue, so I assume video mode is your need. And for that Canon has a neat
button, just use the Flash button for movie-servo off/on.   I prefer ML screen to DSLR controller, as I use liveview with a 3X loupe, it retains fast touchscreen af, which I dont think DSLR controller is as fast (as I recall its been a while).  Focus peaks, zebras, and the ml screen are my preferred mode.

That sounds like what I'll need to go with as well.  Thanks for the info guys!  Any word on when the 70D firmware will make the nightly build list?

Is there a Particular Necessity for You to be using the 26Nov Build instead of the Latest 22Dec ?

No, I just haven't installed the update yet.

Thanks for the info.  I do have another question.  Is there a way to get the option to turn the SERVO AF off by tapping the screen while using the ML screen?  When I'm shooting, I often like to use the AF box to grab focus on something, then quickly tap the SERVO AF button on the screen to temporarily turn AF off.  That's the only extra thing I wish I could do from the ML screen, because I definitely love the info ML gives you.

Would be helpful to have a More Accurate Description of what you are asking about & to know which Build of ML you are running.

I'm using build: Nightly.2015Nov26.70D111A on one camera and the other camera is using Nightly.2015.Nov26.70D111B.

When the camera isn't recording, the info in the upper-right corner of the screen (when on the ML screen) shows the amount of space left on the card.  As it begins recording it changes to a number (somewhere in the hundreds and sometimes with a : to the right side of it).  After about twenty minutes or so, a white box with red number appears over the upper-right corner and keeps counting up (ended up over 30,000 before I stopped recording).  Just wondering what those number mean.  Also, I noticed the framerate would change from 23.971 to 23.984.  Not sure what causes that and if it's anything to worry about.  Here are some photos to show you what I'm getting.

I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but I unfortunately don't have time to read through all of the posts in this thread.  I've been using the firmware for a couple weeks (I've got 2 70Ds, one uses the A firmware and the other uses the B).  On both cameras I notice some numbers and letters showing up in the upper-right corner of the screen after shooting video for a while (10 minutes, maybe).  If I remember correctly they are either red characters in a white box or white characters in a red box.  Can someone tell me what these indicate.  I thought maybe they were trying to convey there was a problem with the recording, but so far I haven't noticed any problems with the recorded videos.

Thanks!

I'm willing to try out this alpha build, but I'm going to wait until I have a stretch with no gigs lined up, just in case.  Any estimate on when the beta will be released?

Thanks!
