Me and buddy filmed a psychological thriller about a pair of glasses that alters your perception - in this case - the protagonist is the antagonist trying to escape himself.

Filmed on a Canon 5D Mark III with Magic Lantern, Ronin M, and Canon 50mm 1.4
Cut in Premiere & Graded in Davinci Resolve
All sounds done in post production.

Any feedback is great! This is the first short film I've ever produced. I know the next short film I'm going to focus more on lighting.

Care to share why won't you try to use the latest Nightly?

Is there any significant differences? I haven't updated as this version has been extremely stable. If there's a nice change I might update.

However, I have learned that I feel better with more of an quite efficient workflow when it comes to using 128GB 1066x because then I can swap out cards every 24 minutes or so (while digesting 128GB worth of RAW via USB 3.0 takes roughly about the same amount of time into a SSD more or less) and keep in mind if use HDD then it will take longer to ingest for obvious reasons.

The worst part about owning these 256GB (besides the freedom of shooting RAW for over 45 minutes in 24p) is the fact that it takes about 45 minute to an hour if not more to digest footage into a SSD and to me that can be a quite annoying. Again it all depends on your situation.

The main reason for 256gb cards is to film continuous for more than 30min for ceremonies and other live events like that. Only for those moments would I ever use them or try to anyways haha

I'm looking for insights on how the card performs compared to the 64gb version 1066x and how they hold up to RAW continuous 23.976 recording at 1920x1080 on a 5D Mark III. I have a gig this friday filming a funeral service and I'm on the cusp of buying 4 of them so I can record the whole service. I have (6) 64gb cards but I dont wanna be switching out the cards ever 10 or so minutes. So here are my questions:

1. Are they as stable as the 64gb 1066x version? I've heard mixed reviews.
2. How many minutes can I record filming 1920x1080 23.976 on 5D Mark III? I'll probably run a tighter aspect ratio to maximize time though.
3. Any issues filming continuous until cards full? Overheating? Data Corruption?

I can record the service in standard compressed format, but I really hate the way it looks now that I've been filming RAW for so long.

I think I'm running an Aug 2015 version of ML.

Anyone from the US should know about the protests going on, I don't know how much coverage it's getting internationally, but I wanted to see first hand what's going on there. We had 24 hours there, so I filmed what I could and the conditions these "water protectors" are facing; freezing temps, snows, and the violence. I ran into Jason Mraz had to interview him. I will be visiting the area as much as I can and turning it into a series call Mni Wiconi meaning Water is Life.

I filmed this with a Canon 5D Mark III with a 24-70mm and 100mm all 2:35:1 RAW at 48fps. It was almost blizzard conditions at some points, but my 5D toughed it out.

Just wanted to share my experience this past week. I filmed for a producer/DJ while he was in Chicago for a few shows. I shot all RAW at 1920x818 at 23.976 a few 48fps. I was trying to save as much hard drive space as I could as I was always filming something. I think I'm going to have to come to terms to having a ton of hard drives for shoots like this or maybe not shooting RAW (EEEK).

My second music video completely shot with ML on a Canon 5D Mark III at 1920x818 - 48fps.

Although it took 3 days of shooting with first time actors and 6 hours of editing it turned out to be a pretty great video in my opinion, but let me know what you think to help me improve as it is my only my second music video. I'm sure there are much more experienced peeps out there

I find using Davinci Resolve 12 to grade and exporting ProRes 422HQ works great for me!

BUT I would really like to know more about the Octocopter setup; live video, links, cost, etc?
You might not know, but you're buddy might know more details. I really want to convince my boss that we need one

I haven't been able to find anything dealing this the quality of compressed vs uncompressed with any Magic Lantern related DNGs. Is there any significant detail loss? If you know any links please share!

How many nodes did you use to color grade in DR?

Yeah I shot in 50fps down to 23.976. I used 3 serial nodes and 2 parallel nodes.

Still figuring out DR. Slowly learning!

I've been trying to color grade more, but most of my work is nightlife and club work. I haven't had a chance to color grade a day shoot! We filmed, edited, and graded all in 12 hours. So worth it! Our goal is to do a even bigger snowball fight in March! We ran of daylight for this shoot, but made due with the shots we got!

Yeah noticed the flickering. You'll have to remember to not use florescent light (which will have flicker around 60Hz (1/60 of a sec)) Or set shutter angle at equivalent (1/48 of a second use to work if filming 24fps).

I was shooting 50fps, and I wanted a little motion blur when I slowed down the footage so I shot at 1/80th. Forgot to about the flicker until I was at the house, but still forgot about lowering down to 1/60th at times. Definitely learned my lesson!

I used an Opteka SV-HD for the steady cam!

I used Davinci Resolve to color grade, but I'm still learning! Way better than using ACR like I was before though.
Cut together using Premiere Pro and titles were created in After Effects.

I know the flickering was due to have too high of a shutter speed, which I didn't notice when I was outside being it was 14 degrees
I need to remember this or buy a plugin.

Does anyone else have an issue with the audio not being synced when filming 50fps on a x1000 card? I shot 1920x818 and almost every audio file was not synced in Davinci Resolve nor MLviewer. If anyone has any suggestion with that, I would truly appreciate it!

Shot during the Zombie Pub Crawl in Minneapolis and boy was that fun! My stabilizer broke the night before shooting a concert *sigh* so most of my shots were stand still. It was still a lot of fun! Plenty of drunk puking zombies....I should have filmed that! haha

It was the regular way. I had to google FRSP; I have never heard of it! There's probably so much I missing with ML haha

Brilliantly done with the long exposure shots -- thanks for sharing that particular video which leads me to another question -- was it done in undercranking via FPS override during RAW recording or the regular long exposure CR2 photos as in Timelapse?

I used the intervalometer in ML with, I think, a 1 second shutter speed, then i matched the ratio & fps in after effects. If I were to do it again I would make sure it is softened a bit, so it wouldn't look so different from the other clips. Thanks again!

Watched it again inside my car with a 10 inch bazooka and holy shit I must say the cuts goes with the beats really well and spot on.

I shot some of the beginning sequence at 23.976 fps since I knew I wasn't going to slow it all down. The rest was shot at 50fps with an aspect ratio of 1920x640 (3:1). I used MlRAWviewer to export to .mov, stretched and created proxies in AE, edited and color graded in Premiere, the lastly added the split RGB effect in AE once it was all put together. I used the lumetri color panel for the grading with a Fuji LUT and added a little purple to the shadows.

Max stood in one spot for a full 30+ minutes for the long exposure shots! Here's the link to the full video of that! https://youtu.be/6dAAIdecMy0

Produced my first music video for my DJ friend to find the best workflow as I have a few hip hop music videos coming up soon. It was a lot of fun making this!

Shooting at night clubs are so tricky; too dark, lasers (OMG), crappy fluorescent light flickering, and lots of opportunities for camera gear to get damaged. I don't know how many times someone spilt something on me :/ BUT despite all the bad stuff, it's such a rush shooting these events. Everyone's having a good time with a stupendous amount of energy, so you are guaranteed awesome crowd shots! I'm hoping to do more at music festivals!

I shot this all at 50fps, since I could always speed it up which I did and was satisfied by the way it looked. The shutter speed was set at 1/80 with the super dark ambient light. ISO was set at 1250. I didn't want to push it too far as I'm never satisfied with 1600; too mushy after noise reduced.
