After filming a file over 4gb It spanned them into two files (M01-1024.M01 and the M01-1024.MLV) and after running the command it merges them and loses the footage from the smaller file. How do properly merge the spanned files?

Thanks

i have no idea what is going on. i never had that issue when i ran the command.

Just to update anyone using RAW instead of the MLV option. I use RawMagic that will turn my RAW file into CinemaDng. The process is quite similar to the way the tutorial does MLV files except you use a program. Again this is on mac. If anyone would like a tutorial feel free to inbox me and ill make one for ya. thanks

And what about the audio?

I just tried and after conversion i got a .IDX file that FCPX can't read.

Am i doing something Wrong?

I dont think you are doing anything wrong i havent really focused on the audio i will look into now and see if another program like premiere will read it.

You could add the possibility to click the command several times which will start processing several mlv files simultaneously which will speed up the process when you have many files. The scripts will pick up any mlv that,s not sucked in to a folder and start from there.
Thanks

That does work also only thing is if you dont have a good computer it can slow the computer down. This way is more of the type of way as if you can hit the button, jump in the shower and come out and edit.

Wow! I've been paying for support services and never got a responsiveness like so! thank you mannyaroyo, I was downloading a wrong version of mlv_dump.

Now my problem is that I end up with greenish image after the conversion to DNG when I open it in Adobe Bridge and Camera Raw. I can partially fix the problem by swishing the white balance preset to Auto in Camera Raw but I'm still keeping greenish values in the darkest areas. I need to desaturate the green and yellow values in Camera Raw to get something barely correct and this is really not clean.

Any ideas about this?

Thank you.

What kind of Picture Porfile are you using? In camera raw there is a way to change how it is reading it. I had the same issue. I downloaded a LOG file from http://vision-color.com/visionlog/ and it worked great! In camera raw you can go to the camera calibration icon looks like a camera lens and go to picture profile and the drop down will have a selection for different type. That site above has alot of free stuff and actually was used in the end of the video i posted for the tutorial. Hope this works out! Cant wait to see what comes from it. Let me know if you need help.

Hi,

I'm trying to get the mlv_dump to convert my files, followed all the steps but I'm constantly getting the same "Illegal instruction" error. I've then tried to put a "sudo" before the command but I get a "Segmentation fault" error.
How Can I fix this? I'm on OSX 10.6.8.

Plz I need help.
Thank you guys.

I think the instructions that came with the script were pretty straightforward and easy to follow, but thanks for doing this anyway.

You might also opt to put it into the RAW Post Workflow section since many people would look there for info on conversion.

Thanks. I made this because even though the instruction were simple many people were still confused. Thanks again.

Hey so i seen some people having issues with MLVtoDng and i figured i create a tutorial for it. Now this MLVtoDNG was created by someone who i dont remember but it was on ML that i found them. It is super easy and frankly takes the guest work out of it all. Here is the video for people who dont like to read. Hope it helps out and this wasnt a repost.

Hey everyone im not sure if this was covered but i read most of this thread and didnt see anything.

So i used Mlv-Dump and then was able to drag my MLv clip into terminal but it will only allow me to covert it to DNG by doing the command --d if i try to convert to RAW like the post stated by using the -r command it says it processes it but nothing happens. i cant find the file at all. If i use the method that is in the post completely then the Mlv file isnt able to get open. Im kinda confused and would like to get some sound with this footage which is why i shot in MLV. Also i noticed when i brung the file into AE it was 8bit and not 14. if there is anything on this anything please redirect me thanks!
