Hi guys

I need to backup my files on an external harddrive without having to use the computer. I found the WD My Passport which can backup the SD card directly to the harddrive without having to use a computer. Problem is that it doesn't take CF cards.

My plan is then to transfer the files from the CF cards to the SD cards and then backup the SD card with the WD My Passport.

So question is. Can i transfer my RAW files from the CF card to the SD card internally in the camera?

I'm using a 5D Mark III

Is Prores HQ not good enough a codec for that?

Hi guys

I tried to hook up my SmallHD AC7 to my 5D Mark III thinking i would use it as an monitor, but it seems i can't get global draw to work when recording with 60 fps? Is there a work-a-round or is it just not possible? If not, what's the reason for that?

Hi guys

I have a question about the Twixtor plugin. I recorded some footage at 60 fps in RAW. I then conformed it in Davinci to Prores HQ. I exported the prores files as 24 fps so the 60 fps slowmotion is already happening.

My question is. Is it better to do it that way, or export the prores files as 59.940 fps? and then Interpret Footage in After Effects? Will it be the same in the end?

I hope this makes sense :)

Quick question. Am i supposed to go into the mounted folder/drive and copy the MLV folders to another folder?

I get the mounted drive and when i click it, i see my folders, but i'm not really sure what to do after that?

It doesn't seem to be working with RAW files. Is that correct?

Hi guys

I've looked around to find a good and easy workflow for getting my RAW files to DNG. Currently there is something called MLP. Only thing is that it's a bit of a tricky workflow with a lot of settings i have no idea what is about.

How are you mac guys doing it today?

No, i'm only using the standard files.

MLV_RAW_dng_dcraw_any_command.txt
MLV_RAW_dng_gamma_2.4_0.txt

That's it.

Thanks for your help Danne

I upgraded to El Capitan with a clean install and now it seems to work. I'm a little curious though. I started conforming about 64gb of footage and it takes forever.

I've conformed 9 RAW files each about 1 GB. It took about 32 min in total. I used to use RAWMagic to conform my files, and i just did a quick test and i was able to conform a single file of 1GB in less than 30 seconds. What's the difference between MLP and RAWMagic except for all the extra settings?

Maybe it's my workflow. This is what i do. I right click the folder containing my RAW files. I get the two folders A_lut_hold and A_dan_log_3d_luts. I delete the prores text file cause i don't need them. I then run looks_creator.command and hit "r" to conform the files.

First, thanks for helping. I really appreciate it!

Sorry if i'm not thorough enough.

I copied all my RAW files to a folder on my LACIE disk called RAW TEST SHOOT. I right click on the folder, and i don't see any Services tab. Not even if i right click on some of the RAW files. The only time i get the Services tab is when I'm on my Desktop and right click a random folder.

No, i'm right clicking the folder which holds all my RAW files. The only time i get the Services tab is when i right click on a folder that's on my Desktop.

I have little trouble using the MLP.

I've copied all my RAW files to my LACIE disk, but then i right click i don't get the Service tab. When i right click on a random folder on my desktop, i do however get the Services tab. Why is that?

I only see the Services if i right click a folder from the Desktop. If i go inside that folder and right click i don't get Services.

Why is that?

Raw Video / Can i use my C modes for 24 fps and 60 fps
January 08, 2016, 03:34:44 AM
Hi guys

I'm going on a vacation trip, and i want to be able to switch fast between 24 fps and 60 fps. Is there a way to customize C1 to be 24 fps with the ML RAW settings i want and C3 to 60 fps with a different set of ML RAW settings?

Why does everything i shoot turn up pink?

http://cl.ly/image/0z1T1E1I2B37

When i view them in finder everything is fine - http://inft.ly/3rNy5pr

I'm using the latest build with ML 1.2.3

I'm shooting ML files and converting via RAWMagic 1.2.2

This is really annoying!

Hi

I did some test with recoding mlv last night. When i preview the DNG in my Finder on my mac it looks good, but when i open them in Davinci or Camera RAW they are completely pink. Everything is pink like there is a pink overly on top of the footage. I tried another test and same thing. I tried to look around here and found something about a HEX edit that can fix it. Is there a more easy way to correct this?

Hi guys

This has really become a problem for me! I shot from the back of a car the other day, and a lot of the footage has some black flickering going on. It's quite subtle but its very noticeable. Is something wrong with my camera? I have experienced this before. Could it be the vibrations from the car? I shot from a dolly which was hard mounted to the car. I used an ND filter, could that be the problem?

Workflow is RawMagic to Davinci.

Hi guys

I spent the entire weekend filming a custom bike builder out in Brooklyn and used this opportunity to test the RAW functionality on the 5D Mark III . It was a great experience and i learned a lot, but i also realized quite a few downsides while shooting. I hope you guys might have some tips/tricks to the following issues.

1. It's really annoying that its not possible to playback the recorded video in full color and FPS - Is this something that will be possible in the future or is the camera just nu strong enough?

2. I'm still trying to find a good way to set exposure. I was using an ND filter, but it takes time to adjust ND, ISO and f/stop. I try to expose -1 and it works fine. How do you guys expose and do you have any tips/tricks here? I heard some only adjusting the ISO and f/stop. My friend shoot on the Black Magic Camera and kept the ISO to 800 and only adjusted f/stop and the ND filter. I guess there is a lot of ways, but how are you doing it?

3. CF Cards - I bought 3 cards which was not enough at all! I had to bring a computer and constantly unload the footage to a harddrive while shooting. This was a big hazzle that i hope will be improved. How do you guys handle the media?

I really want to keep using the 5D Mark III cause i think the overall image quality is better, and i really like the weight of the camera, but with the issues above i'm starting to look at the Black Magic 4K.

Raw Video / Re: 550D Bad Video Quality?

Another lens would help. You would get more light in with a lower aperture.

Don't know much about the ISO on 550D, but on my 60D it starts to get ugly when i go above 1600.

If your shooting 25 fps, your shutter should be 50.

5D Mark III .. Don't remember the build as i am at work right now.

RawMagic to DNG

Imported them into Davinci Resolve Lite = Flickering

ACR to TIFF to AE = Flickering

I'm using Kompuerbay 64gb 1000x CF card. ML is on a SD card.

OSX.

I tried with both ACR and Davinci. The flickering is still there. It's actually on many of my shots :/
