Dang, thought the 80D would be the one to get the April 1st announcement.

Here you go, from the 80D thread:

Today, April 1st, announcing...

Magic Lantern Blind Edition for DIGIC 6 :)

Step 0: make sure you are running firmware 1.0.2 (ML does not check for that!)
Step 1: enable the boot flag (if you haven't already)
Step 2: copy autoexec.bin to your card (download links below)
Step 3: pray that your camera won't explode
Step 4: start the camera
Step 6: report back

Release 0.001
Features:
- LED blinking
- Still photo capture after 10 seconds
- Diagnostic log

Release 0.002
Features:
- LED blinking
- Silent photo capture (without shutter actuation) after 10 seconds (camera must be in PLAY mode started from LiveView; ML does NOT check for that!)
- Diagnostic log

Keep in mind these binaries are truly blind (I could not test this functionality in QEMU). Anything can happen if you try to run them. Your 80D may very well turn into 1DX or it may explode. If it breaks, I'm unable to pay for repairs, sorry.

Source code: open the binaries with a text editor.
For other D6 models, adapting the source should be straightforward.
For DIGIC 7, see here. Emulation-wise it's mostly identical to D6.

Have fun!

Thought I'd check in on this today.  Not that I expected there to be any news on this front, it's just still disappointing this camera most likely wont get ML when it has so much potential.  Oh well

Agreed.

Looks great! Nice work, good edits too.

Great video, thank you for this!
#7
I did, I just thought that maybe somebody had info that wasn't yet shared here. Sorry I ruffled your feathers.

How's 550D? Last time I tried it had pink every other frame.

Quote from: teatotalTEDVery exciting indeed, no freezing on 550D or 50D. Getting contnuous 1280 at 2.35:1 10bit on 550D but then big jump to 1600 wide, smaller increments of 16 pixels as discussed earlier on the thread would be good, can't find it in the menus.

So nearly there just need the 16 pixel offset every other frame resolved.

Which build?

General Chat / 10 bit 422 h.264
December 01, 2016, 12:29:36 AM
So with the Panasonic GH5 announced (shipping early next year), it has been spec'd out to record 10 bit 422 internally. I believe it's in the form of h.264. Is there a way (future speaking of course) in Magic Lantern to achieve this with our Canon DSLRs?

Well since I already own a couple of 550D's and a couple of 7D2's, I'd say it's a welcome addition to have Magic Lantern available for Raw and other things (hoping 7D2 version comes soon). If I were to purchase any new camera now it would shoot 4K or better at this point. Neither BMC Micro and Pocket offer that.

I'm actually considering the new DJI X5S with the Inspire 2 Drone, shoots 5.2K Raw.
#12
Wow. How long could you record? Continuous shooting?

Just a minor improvement. It's still 8 bit but at least it's 422 color space. Helps (very little) with highlights, less banding.

Act like there will never be ML for the 7D2. In the meantime, I just use the Atomos Ninja 2 to record ProRes 422HQ via the clean HDMI out (using Technicolor Cinestyle).
#15
So close. 550D 12 bit 8 seconds at 1600x600 (2.67:1) but frames out of order. They're numerically in order but not correct. Like they are numbered wrong in camera.
#16
Using MLVFS still getting every other half-pink frame. 550D.
#17
I get "Access Denied."

Quote from: eduperezBeing "one of the best for ML" is not a guarantee of being achievable, IMHO.

Agreed, never meant that it should. Just a hope.

Quote from: KelvinKThere's no need to believe it or not :) It's a fact. The main reason why old 7D got ML port was quite big amount of camera owners and devs with free time. 7D was a successful Canon's camera and was one of the best crop camera at time of release. 7D2 unfortunately not at all.

Yeah, I get it. I have already been in contact with a couple of Devs over PM about it, I understand that it takes time and the dual Digic is more difficult. The 7D2 may never see ML and I'm okay with that. My opinion is that the 7D2 could be the crop version of the 5D3 with ML - Dual Pixel Auto Focus doesn't hurt either. Also, to your point about "wrong camera", I love my 7D2's. I use them with a Ninja2 and get beautiful ProRes 422HQ - even though it's still 8 bit, the 422 color space helps somewhat.

Quote from: KelvinKForget about 7DII ML. I'm sorry guys, but you bought wrong camera.

I don't believe that. ML for the 7D2 may be more difficult to achieve because of the Dual Digic, but IMHO, it would be one of the best for ML.

Quote from: justinbacleIs it the same problem as the 5DmkII ?

Yes, and I also get it on the 550D.

Officially released? 5D4? I don't think so.
#22
Yeah, MLVFS works. I've tried different frame rates and resolutions, still getting pink/corrupted every other frame in 10 and 12 bit. (550D)
#23
Okay, so I used MLVFS and now I can see the frames. Every other frame is top half pinkish noise. I was trying 12FPS on 550D.
#24
Bunch of colored snow, but I used MLV Mystic. Recorded long though at 1728 using 10 bit, just can't see frames. This is on a 550D. Crop mode crashes camera.
#25
Quote from: ItsMeLennyAs far as I can tell 10 bit was recording on the 550D...

Already have ML, how do I get 10 bit on my 550D?

Edit:
I found the files, do I just add to the folder on my SD card or do I actually have to reinstall ML?

Edit 2: Nevermind, got it working. Testing now.
