does the latest build from 9/25/17 work ok?  i'm kind of leery installing it as the first thing listed in the change log is " Test results: 0 passed, 3 failed."  ???

i don't use either of those lenses so updating my 70d with the new firmware is not going to change anything.  i won't update the firmware unless a new ml update requires it.

a1ex - the page design looks nice, it follows with what has gone before it.  lean but usable. :)

recording raw on any canon with just a uhs1 sdcard interface is not worth it.  not enough bandwidth to get a decent framesize.

General Chat / program a button to switch styles?
May 11, 2016, 04:45:11 PM
sorry if this is easy and i missed it, but i don't know much about programming the cameras.  i use a 60d and a 70d for both videos and pictures at events.  video i prefer to shoot using cinestyle profile and color correct in vegas pro.  stills i shoot using the neutral profile.  is there a way to have a button on the back of the camera switch between the 2, with some sort of on screen notification?  i often don't have time or forget to go through the menus and change it in time and end up with stills in cinestyle or video in neutral that end up mismatched with the rest.

thanks.

tisa94 - get the cr2hdr zip from - https://builds.magiclantern.fm/jenkins/view/Other%20tasks/job/cr2hdr-20bit/
extract all files into a folder.  put your cr2 dualiso pictures in there.  highlight them all and drag them onto cr2hdr.exe.  it will export all pictures as .dng that will open in photoshop.

anyone moving to the 80d?  a d6 processor, slightly higher 24 mb sensor and more autofocus points.  that's about it.  same crappy uhs-I sd card interface.

if the 70d has now been merged with main, shouldn't it show up in the list of nightlies?

swardet - yes if you need 1080 raw you need a different camera.  a 5d3 will cost you the 70d 's only advantage of auto-focus while shooting.   if manual focus only doesn't bother you i'd go there.  a gh4 will cost you all the glass also.  i might wait and see what canon releases this year.  i know of an 80d and there will be a couple other new models but no specifics.  i've heard rumors the very large sensor may get produced(200mb or more).

@edgarst -  common question, the answer is that none of the newer digic5 cameras have been able to have the audio features enabled.  maybe someday but don't count on it.

looks dead to me

isn't dual-iso every other horizontal line?  i've never seen any vertical distortion like that.

contact canon.  it might be the problem some others have reported with 70d models.  there is a battery connector inside that can break.
#15
prsla - take the card out of the camera and close the slot door.  open the lcd screen so you can see it.  turn on the camera and it should say no card and boot.
#16
psrla - try it with a fresh battery and no card/door closed.  does it boot?  then battery and a known good card formatted outside the camera.
#17
prsla - have you tried a different battery?

4k raw on a 70d?  i'd love to even be able to shoot real actual 1080p30 raw.  but it's not going to happen.  sorry for the piling on but it was too easy a target :-)

@thebkangsta  -  the 70d can shoot all i-frame .mp4 30p at 88mbps.  it's pretty darn good. with the file storage bus limit on a 70d raw video is not a good option with this cam. if you want better raw/mlv buy a 5d3.

@shootmealready - does the screen really blank using headphone monitoring on your t3i?  the screen on my 60d stays on while shooting video and using headphone monitoring.  glad i don't use my t3i for video then.

@maitimaus  --  i have a 60d and you certainly don't need a $45 cable for headphone monitoring.  the standard canon a/v cable and a $2 adapter on the red/white rca jacks works fine http://www.amazon.com/CableWholesale-3-5mm-Stereo-Adapter-Female/dp/B000I98ZM8

my thought was it's probably the canon temperature warning

@maliboo - if you followed the instructions in the changelog you would find what had changed in the source file - https://bitbucket.org/nikfreak/magic-lantern/commits/branch/70D-merge

thank you nikfreak!  merry christmas and happy holidays!

@ kriso - the ml audio functions such as headphone monitoring work fine on my 60d with ml installed.
