I just bought a second hand 600D.
It's a nice camera but with ML installed I can think of nothing even close to Canon DSLRs.
550D at the moment, and will buy 5DMK3 if HDMI out (Canon or ML future release) can boost detail.

I got a mark II, but I'm thinking on buying a GH2 or a GH3 depending on what the final GH3 image looks like OR I might buy another CANON if the geniuses of ML can cook better bit rates.
That's whats really important to me right now, getting better bitrates, all other cameras seem to have better bitrates than CANON cameras. Not to mention the Black Magic Camera being just 3k.
But if High bitrates are a reality soon I rather get another CANON, then I can use it as a Second or B camera on shoots with my Mark II and match the look in post easier than with another brand.

the 550 d is still the best "bang for the buck" in my book,. and with magic lantern being able to have hdr and timelapse built in its a no brainer.. great work.. ;)
I'm running ML on a 550D. If I was going for a second Canon cam, it would probably be 600D (for the articulating screen and 3x crop). Third choice would be 5D3, but at that price point I would be leaning more toward BMCC.

I used to use ML on my 550D and of course continue to use it on my 60D now! I've also got it on a 5D Mark II, but the 5DII has to stay in Germany whilst I live in the UK now...

I own a 600D with ML running on it.
Have recently done a shoot for 4 weeks alongside a 550D, a 5DMk II and Mk III
The footage was sent to a London post house for editing and they wanted to know how I got the looks and feels on the footage.
They were amazed at the comparisons to the 5D footage and actually rated the 600D ML footage higher quality to look at.
Have a 2 week shoot next week... can't wait

Having a MkII since it came out, very happy with it. I have the 5D 1 as well, but would prefer a 6D as a back-up/second camera. Unfortunetaly it isn't weather sealed. Totally incomprehensible for a camera directed towards landscape and travel.
5D III wouldn't add much quality, and I don't need the speed/focus. Slight chance I might do something crazy and buy a 1dx, but I think I'm going to wait out what the future might bring. Canon needs a big step forward again, they are running behind on Nikon (less functionality and specs for a higher price tag).
I've got two 550Ds. I'm surprised to see that those have the majority of ML builds running. Though, I can understand why =D

Hi, I'm using a 5D II at the moment. It perfectly suits most of my needs when used with ML 8)
BUT sometimes I would like to have the (much) better video mode of the Mark III. I have heard of nearly no rolling shutter, better aliasing and codec. Do you have any real results and experience? Is it really worth to buy it as a second body?

I don't know why there are replies here since folks already submitted their votes; but since I see 5Dmk iii under represented in the comments (but not the poll) I want to come in an say that 5D MK III and EOS M are my vote. ESO M, provided it has a reasonable image, would be an excellent option to hack. It would be excellent for most kind of photography video. Other cameras like the NEX-5 and NEX-7 have proven so on the Sony side. If we can increase the MB/s on that camera it would be a very useful video tool on the road due to its size. That's my two cents! :)
550D. I'll trade up for a 600D if the Magic Lantern I-frame hacks are reliable.
I have a 60d (that I enjoy much!) but I'm planning to upgrade to a full frame, I' m interested in the new 6d, but I 'm waiting for a full review and more samples before take a decision!

Nice results. The big surprises (from my point of view):
- I've expected that 550D and 600D to be the most popular cameras, but at equality (more or less). 550D is still the king.
- I've expected a lot fewer 5D3 users, compared to 5D2. That means, Canon did things right with 5D3 and this camera is going to stick around for a while.
- 500D is weak on video, but for photography I find it pretty similar to 550D. So, photo ML users are still a minority?

Maybe a few people like me voted for the 5D3 because they plan to buy one. So the totally amount of 5D3 ML users could be lower.

Using it on the 5D2 - particularly enjoy the intervalometer and bulb ramping functions.
Currently have the 5D3 and will have a go with ML once the beta arrives. At the moment the functions I use most are not included.

APS-C sensor is still perhaps the optimum sensor size for motion picture work when it comes to depth of field and maintaining focus when there is a lot of subject movement.

I'd be interested to know as well, but you might be surprised as there could be many like me who have 2x5Dmk3 and 1x5Dmk2 or even more. Despite what some might say on the internet, i think the mk3 is so much better than the mk2 in many ways and if the clean hdmi out in April isn't rubbish and puts out a great image the mk3 could really come into its own! Maybe the mk3 is selling a lot better than people thought it would? I know when i read reviews i was really disappointed, especially with the price, but then i used one for a bit and the advantages over the mk2 became obvious. ML coming out for the mk2 and now mk3 may have had a bigger impact than people give credit to as well (i had both mine before all that as i use them for photography as well, but i know others who were waiting to see if it happened). It really does make the camera so much more useable on a shoot, so thank you!

I have a 1000D and have just ordered a 650D. Clever me to find the only ML incompatible cameras! I am just wondering if I should cancel the 650D order and get a 600D instead so I can use ML.

I am a professional documentary filmmaker, and can't thank you all enough for your great work in creating Magic Lantern. I have filmed across the word with the 60D and 5Dm2, and have come to rely especially on the audio meters and focus peaks. Really helps in fast-paced, unpredictable situations.
I want to put in a word for the 6D, as I believe there is going to be a large number of people who switch over from 60D/7D to full frame when it comes out. It's clearly aimed at a video market, and the addition of magic lantern to its full frame sensor would make it the best video DSLR out there (timecode+5dm3 sensor is just fantastic for $2k.) Thank you so much for everything!

I have a EOS 650D since yesterday and the Touchscreen is very good when switching between two things when recording stuff.
I also have a EOS 400D with 400plus on it, but I'd love to see ML on it :D
On a 60D bought in July 2012 but still trying to understand ML but cannot get audio monitoring to work.
Considering upgrade to a 5D3 with a 24-105 f4 lens just do not know if it will be better!!.

Have had a T3i (EOS 600D) for a year. Just installed ML on it yesterday. I don't do a ton of video, but the additional photo options surprised me. I guess I need to take more time to research. Very impressed. I hope to add the 6D in 2013.
Just ordered a refurbished T3I from Canon, might buy an 5DIII if the firmware hack for HDMI 422 video proves to increase resolution enough.

I picked up a 6D on pre-order and have been shooting with it for the past 2 weeks. My previous camera (not on the list) is a 400D with which I was a happy user of CHKD firmware...
Looking forward to contributing with some testing and some development to the 6D ML port and see what ML can do for the 6D!

C100 is definitely out of the project scope

I totally agree with deanoism! Please guys consider the C100 its a indie guerilla cam. slightly bigger then a DSLR

Loving and using a 7D. Upgraded from a 20D and am delighted I did, especially now I have some L glass to appreciate it. ML is just as amazing as the difference I get from the 17-85mm IS to the 17-40L.

I'm running ML on my 5DII, but i'm now working a lot with the G1X.
It's a really great camera for field documentary (both video and photo) with lot of good specs but lot of small software pbl.
I really think that ML can improve a lot the G1X.

I have a 7D,
Loaded ML Alpha-2 on 05-05-2013. So far it has been working great !!!!!!
It's has a small learning curve, I'm not complaining.
Vary impressed with all that you guys have done with the added programming options.
Your ML documentation is complete, easy to follow. And a nice added feature to the on-camera info pages......
It is really neat to use features that don't require an added cable/shutter release or timer.

I just cannot believe I bought a 300 euro camera and can shoot raw movies :o
I'm not currently running ML, but I recently got a T4i/650D, so that's the camera I will be running it on eventually. It's my first DSLR. It was a wedding gift from my wife. Men don't get an engagement ring, so she figured it was only fair to get me a focus ring instead! :D
EOS M works like a charm after 550D but I really don't like the image quality in dark. here is a try on a bright day light and another in shadows.
installed ML on my 5D II today... loving it so far. Did a RAW test which I'm pretty happy with. Still playing with all of the possible settings and everything.
Except for my Canon HV40 camcorder, I'm running on a Magic Lantern'd T2i here. I like what I can get out of it for the price.

using ML on my 7D a few months now with awesome HDR results, thanks ML TEAM :) May invest in a 5D classic pretty soon and of course try ML for it also :)
I have ML on my 60D and it will be on the 70D when it arrives for that platform. ( and the darn Camera finally arrives at my house!) ;-)

recently (this morning) installed on the 60d with success !
but video from a Transcend 64gb card has issues, while all the SanDisk ones are ok (16gb)...
both are class 10, so i just think transcend cards must not be as good.
also, the Sandisk ones are ultra type...if that helps anyone.
now, just getting some seat time with all of it.
Had 60D with ML it was stolen. Now using 70D and DAMN! it's good. Had the 7D before ML had figured it out but had sold it. Kicking myself in the ass now. Than again 70D is f#!@ great.

I chose this particular camera over others due to the strength of the software support...Canon EOS utilility and Magic Lantern
I heard about magic lantern through the film making forums and later on youtube where there are several great tutorials.
I have a very very low opinion of DSLR cameras, they are clunky dinosaurs and consumers deserve much better from the big brand names. Someone at Canon has got half a brain and the hardware & software features of the 600d just about scrape a minimum pass. Thanks to all the Magic Lantern developers, version 2.3 while mildly buggy has helped plug some of the gaps that Canon & others should have plugged 10 years ago !
I also have a very low opinion of open source projects in general, too many cooks spoil the broth and lack of enduser focus, software like magic lantern helps restore my faith in humanity....and my end user sanity !
Well done ML dev team and the end users providing essential feedback and testing.
Open Source software i use with some confidence = Magic Lantern, Audacity (Audio) , Desire (astronomy), FreeBasic ( prog lang )

60D. Did not buy a 70D because ML does not exist to that model.
I bought a 650D last year to learn real estate videography. I was "retired" from my company in 2011 after 23 years, and one of my jobs was filming, so I thought I'd start my own business. Then I was almost killed in a head on crash (their fault) in January of last year, now I'm a bionic man with two long titanium rods in my neck and 13 screws. As soon as it's strong enough (been 17 months now) I will start filming houses, hopingly high-end ones for realtors/owners. Loved the 650D but realized I also really love photography which is why I bought the 7D. I put ML on the 650D back in March I believe and have had the 7D for about a month (with ML on it, of course).

Learn a lot before installing it on 5D3. It cannot be uninstalled completely - the implications is that a 2 sec delay is introduced when camera is activated from sleep - that can feel really slow as I saw from my 5D2. In addition you will have to limit your 5D3 to 1.1.3 firmware which is fine if you do not wish to use autofocusing with f/8 lenses (lens + tele converter combinations).
